WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO FOR WEBER?

My name is Mike Kempster. I am the Global Chief Marketing Officer, and that means I work with Weber associates around the world to make the Weber brand known and trusted by consumers wherever they may live.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WEBER PRODUCT?

My favorite Weber product is the Performer Platinum charcoal grill.

FAVORITE THING TO GRILL?

My grilling favorite is tenderloin of beef, roasted to medium rare and flavored with a rub and a hint of oak smoke.

CHARCOAL OR GAS?

I prefer to grill on charcoal, but I frequently use gas grills due to a very busy schedule. When I am not traveling on business, I will fire up a charcoal or gas grill five or more times a week throughout the year.

WHAT'S YOUR BEST GRILLING ADVICE IN ONE SENTENCE?

Use the right amount of charcoal to roast or broil meat, and keep the lid closed during the grilling process.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED WITH GRILLING?

I saw a demonstration at a hardware store that I worked at when I was a teenager. I learned about direct and indirect grilling from a guy who knew all about the Weber kettle, and I was hooked for life. I went on to win a Weber kettle grill in a sales contest, and I gave it to my father and taught him how to use it. From then on my dad was able to grill food for his family of eight children, and he took great pride in helping out with meal preparation for my super-busy mom.
