Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro Tip I use these frequently. Today, like 33 other Thanksgivings, I am roasting/smoking a 25 lb turkey on the 22 inch Kettle with the char baskets inserted. One thing I notice is that as you add fresh coals you have to also shake and clear the baskets of ash if you want the temperature to be 300F or above. Otherwise the temperature, even with all the vents wide open top and bottom, will stabilize at 250-275 , which is fine. The reason is the lower mass flow of oxygen (air) around the charcoals.
