Griddle Seasoning Wax Instructions

How-To Video

How-To Video

  1. Apply 1 teaspoon of Weber Griddle Seasoning Wax with a lint-free cotton cloth over the entire surface of the griddle – front to back, side to side, including the interior and exterior of any side walls.
  2. Use a separate cloth to wipe off any excess seasoning wax so that the surface is evenly coated.
  3. Turn the burners to high heat. The surface will begin to smoke and darken (approximately 10 minutes).
  4. If any oil begins to bead on the surface, with grill mitts on, hold a paper towel with tongs to wipe the excess oil from the griddle.
  5. When the surface stops smoking (approximately 20–30 additional minutes) turn off the heat to the griddle. Allow it to cool at least 30 minutes.
  6. The griddle now has 1 coat of seasoning. Repeat steps 1–5, at least 2 more times to build your seasoning,

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sure about this I ended up doing about 5 coats of this stuff because the blackened “seasoning” chipped off right away. It goes on and darkens the surface nicely. The first food basically removes the darkened coating and the additional coats mostly came off right away again. Now, I can’t say that it didn’t do something to season my new griddle because I did it right away and didn’t try it first. I just don’t know if this stuff does anything.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't care for the residue or function figured i'd try this since it's official but i switched back after a month of giving it an all in shot. now im back to shortening and it just coats so much better with better non stick qualities and taste.
