Rated 2 out of 5 by from Update to my previous Just a thought review Weber reached out to me to try to improve my rating. I contacted them about the cleaning issue for the grill. I was able to find out several things. Unfortunately, I did not have a manual in English that I could understand that came with the grill - and they sent me an electronic version although I would prefer to have a printed manual in English (and they should have sent me this). I did find out that 1. If you remove the screws for the elements you can lift out what turns out to be a liner. However it was too late to solve my cleaning problem (won't come off) because when I called them previously they told me to just turn up the heat and let everything turn to ash - which did not happen. When they contacted me I was hoping they would send me a new liner but that did not happen. You should not have to unscrew the grill element to get the liner out so this grill needs a redesign. and 2. The electric plug is very difficult to get in and out. I was asked if if it was bent. I can't see that it's bent but it was so hard to get in and out that I tried WD-40 and that helped a little. T I only used the grill 8 times and I only cooked boneless chicken on it with very little oil. The chicken cooked well and I also used the smoker a few times. The food tasted very good but it turned out to be very expensive chicken if you think about the high cost of the grill. At this point I wish I had purchased a different grill. Weber also insists that you are supposed to use the weber metal grill scraper but I am afraid you would end up eating pieces of metal so I can't bring myself to purchase/use that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's really hot! This grill has the power to really sear meat and vegetables and cook them quickly. It takes a bit of time to reheat even with a quick open, but this has not really dimmed its overall capacity to do the job better than other electric grills.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from With realistic expectations, it's perfect! TL;DR - With reasonable expectations, this is actually a great little grill. I received this grill as a gift on 1 Aug 24 and so far have used it at least a dozen times. I've cooked pork chops, ribeyes, hotdogs, bacon (YES, possible), chicken, dozens of burgers, attempted to smoke a whole rack of ribs, and steamed some broccoli. Background: I'll be the first to say that I was skeptical but hopeful. I am yet another person plagued (In Denver) by fire related concerns where my apartment does not allow LP, NG, Charcoal, or Pellet. So my lovely Weber Platinum kettle sits in my garage and I die a little inside every time I see it. However, not grilling sucks, so I had to give this grill a shot! Overview: This is NOT a solid metal plate situation like a George Foreman. This has nice cast iron grates that are open to the grill below and take on quite a nice non-stick seasoning. They're heavy, heat-sink well, and the grease from your cooking drips down onto the oven-like coil to create the normal smoke and grill flavors that are typical from a gas grill. It takes small drip pans that are easy to replace and for the most part is pretty easy to clean. Heat: Heat wise, the control knob sees temperatures that vary from 175 to 610 degrees. It takes about 25 minutes to hit the 610, but it does hit it reliably. Durability: This feels like a weber product. The quality feels nice, but the hinges aren't quite as beefy as a traditional gas grill. You can feel that this is a nice product, but certain areas could be beefed up a bit if I am honest. The hinges and also the control knob itself (quality of detents, feel when adjusting the knob) could feel a bit more solid, but they don't feel crappy. Cleaning: This isn't too bad. The scrapper that comes with the grill is honestly a fantastic tool (I was incredibly skeptical when I first saw it in the box). It's just flexible enough to do a fantastic job of cleaning the bottom of the grill under the grates. Note, that the grill, not having coals, or a traditional open flame, will have burned food particles and fats that don't fully burn away in the bottom of the grill after cooking. These need to be scraped out just before your next cook (when the coil is cold) or any temperatures over 450 during the next heat up will smell like a burnt oven. I've not deep cleaned it, but getting the big crunchies out of the bottom serve well to avoid that "burnt oven" smell entirely and just smells like a well seasoned grill warming up. Different food results: - Burgers: Fantastic...great grill marks, cooks em fast, and they taste like they're grilled on a gas grill. - Chicken: Fast and easy...doesn't get that same "flame licked" feel from the open flame grease flare ups of gas/charcoal...but also doesn't taste like it was cooked in an oven. 75% of the way to a gas grill. - Bacon: WHAT?! You can grill Bacon?!?!? Because of the lack of flame flare ups with grease drips onto the coil, you can grill your bacon along with your burgers...this has worked surprisingly well and has been a fun addition to grilling - Hot dogs: This thing is fantastic for hotdogs...truly great (especially with the smoker side in action). They get super crispy/nice casings without burning the crap out of them - Steak: PLENTY hot enough to sear well. Admittedly I've not cooked enough steaks on this yet. The speed of cook at 610 caught me off guard and cooked the steaks VERY quickly. Similar to the chicken, expect a grilled taste, but without that flame-licked feeling. This has great potential and I'll have to keep messing with it. - Ribs (using smoking attachment): Trialed a 3hr cook with ribs on the smoking attachment. This was tough. Low and slow (so far) doesn't appear to be the grill's forte. While you CAN cook at 250ish, it doesn't get the smoke attachment hot enough to get the chips going. If you're going to try this, I would suggest not water soaking your chips at all. The grill attachment simply doesn't get hot enough. It took over an hour for 30min soaked Pecan chips (weber brand) to start to really bellow smoke. The smoke box starts to come alive around 390-410 degrees (and the hotter the better). So low-n-slow is possible, and smoke is possible...but I am still trying to see if there is a way to get the grill to do both at the same time. So if you want to short smoke wings, burgers, dogs...fantastic job. If you're wanting low-n-slow....be ready to experiment. I am thinking that 2hr cook with dry chips will be my next attempt. - Broccoli (using steaming attachment): Honestly...worked great! Cooked em a little too short, but they were beautifully steamed. Easy way to do some clean veggies on the grill. Conclusion: - Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It's incredibly easy to use, and if you're not allowed to have gas/charcoal, this is a quality option that still provides the joys of grilling. This will not give charcoal grill flavors, but very closely resembles cooking on a gas grill. Flame flare ups are nearly non-existent and the grill is easy to clean. The grill can handle many different types of cooking and gets plenty hot enough to sear. The grill holds heat quite well due to the cast iron grates, but does take 25min to get to max temperature so plan accordingly. Ultimately, I would still choose my kettle if my circumstances allowed it, but in my present circumstance, this grill has been a joy so far. I have mine sitting on a Vevor stainless table (sub $80) with the weber protective cover and the setup works great and looks the part. If you too are in a position where electric is your only option, but you love to grill...rest assured this is a great little grill and will allow you the joys of grilling without the pains of fighting your HOA or landlord. Happy grilling!
