Simply replace the right side cooking grate with the WEBER CRAFTED Frame Kit, place the grillware in the frame and start cooking. Grillware pieces are interchangeable for endless versatility.
WEBER CRAFTED is custom-fit grillware. Check out our visual guide to make sure it’s compatible with your current grill.
Make sure you are installing your Flat Top on the right-hand side of your grill. With the burners off and the grill cool to the touch, remove the grate on the right.
Place your WEBER CRAFTED frame in the right-hand side of the grill. It should be positioned with the curved portions of the wire facing down. The WEBER logo should be toward
the front of the grill and facing up.
Place your Flat Top over the frame.
Place the spacer between the Flat Top and the front of the grill. Make sure that the spacer’s two large tabs are positioned toward the inside of the grill, closest to the grillware.
If you are still experiencing issues with the fit of your Flat Top, please contact customer support.
Occasionally there will be food you are unable to cover with oil before cooking on the Flat Top. In these instances, use a basting brush to lightly apply cooking oil or melted butter to the Flat Top.
A seasoned griddle is dark black from edge to edge. To achieve this, season your griddle at least 3 times before use. Here's how:
1. The griddle has been coated with a food-grade mineral oil for protection. This oil is not to be used for seasoning. Open the bag containing your Griddle over a waste bin. Dispose of the bag and then transfer the griddle to your sink.
2. Hand wash your griddle in warm, soapy water and scrub vigorously with a nylon brush or soft sponge just before the seasoning process. Thoroughly dry.
Note: This will be the ONLY TIME you use soap and water on your griddle.
Warning: Do not burn off the mineral oil.
3. Place your Weber CRAFTED Frame Kit in your grill and preheat your grill with the lid closed to 400-500 F.
4. Use a low lint paper towel or cotton cloth to apply about 1 Tablespoon of a neutral oil over all the surfaces (top, sides and bottom) of the griddle. Then wipe off any excess oil so it appears dry. Excess oil will not season properly.
5. Using heat-resistant gloves or mitts, place the griddle into the hot grill, close the lid, and allow it to heat up for 30 minutes. The surface will get start to darken and get smokey.
6. Use a set of grill tongs to hold a paper towel, then use the towel to wipe any uneven spots or drips of oil on the griddle.
7. When the smoking has stopped, your griddle now has 1 coat of seasoning. Repeat steps 3-6, two (2) more times in order to build the seasoning, allowing the griddle to completely cool down between applications.
You will want to preheat the grill for approximately 20-25 minutes with the Flat Top in place.
Why is my Flat Top changing color?
Not to worry, it is normal for the Flat Top to change color over time. The darkening of the surface indicates better seasoning, which results in better performance for your Flat Top.
How do I clean my Flat Top?
With the burners off and the Flat Top still warm, pour a little bit of water on the surface. Then use a spatula to scrape away any food residue.
This fills the pores in the Flat Top’s surface with polymerized oil that creates a stick-resistant, protective coating. Handling food will be easier and so will cleaning up.
