Make sure the pull tab has been removed from the battery upon receiving your product, when removed press the center button once to turn on, the red LED will blink stay illuminated for 5 seconds on power on. Once the Smart Probe is on the probe will blink every 5 seconds when powered on to indicate power. 


Press and hold the center button for 3 seconds and the LED light will turn off indicating no more power. Note the Smart Probe will automatically power off after 24 hours if left on even during an active cook session when paired with your Weber Connect App. 

The Smart Probe and Grate Sensor  requires very little power and runs off a CR2032 Coin Cell battery, when the battery is low, around 10%, a notification will be shown on the Weber Connect App along with a red bar on the battery icon within the Weber Connect App. 

Unwind the cable, with the probe facing upward with the button on top, twist counterclockwise. The CR2032 battery will be held in place with a small bracket (attached to the Smart Probe label) and Phillips screw. These pieces must be in place when replacing the battery. Make sure the compartment is clean when replacing the battery and reconnect the front face ensuring it is free of dust and debris 

790F/421C, unlike many probes that use an NTC or RTS sensor, the Smart Probe and Grate Sensor uses a robust thermocouple for measuring temperatures which can stand higher temperature. Please note a warning will be issued if the probe temperature is read at 700F via the Weber Connect App in case of high heat being reached. For best performance do not put the braded cable of the probe into your food. 

The range is based on the strength of your mobile phone in relation to the main body housing, the max range when in open field without any obstructions is 1000FT: This range can very based on objects the obstruct the signal, so best performance please have your mobile device within range of the Smart Probe. For most purposes it will be 33ft as an average range. 

No, it is hand washable only. While the Smart Probe is weather resistant try not to spray the body of the probe directly with water it directly with water. DO NOT put the Smart Probe in the dishwasher as it will cause harm to the Smart Probe and also will cause the Smart Probe to no longer be operable. Hand wash the probe after each use. 

DO NOT remove the probe with your hands. Always wear heat-resistant barbecue mitts or gloves (confirming to EN 407, Contact Heat rating level 2 or greater) when handling a hot probe. 

DO NOT put the body of the Smart Probe on any hot surface 

DO NOT drop the Smart Prober onto hard surfaces. 

DO NOT exceed the internal probe sensor limit of 790°F (412°C). Temperatures above these maximums will damage probe and could cause inconsistent readings or no readings at all. 

Yes, a wired probe can be used in conjunction with a Smart Probe. Note: a wired probe temperature will take priority over a wireless probe if both are connected on the grills display. However, both temperatures can be seen in the Weber Connect App. 

No, non-Weber wireless probe products do not work with Weber grills

Look for the “wings” around the numbered prove to indicate that a probe is connected  

 


 

Probe Display (Weber Smoque): Shows 1 Smart Probe at a time, maximum of 2 displayed on the controller’ 

 Probe Display (Searwood): Shows 2 Smart Probes, maximum of 2 the display. A wired probe will take priority over a wireless probe  

 

Probe Display (Summit Smart): Will show multiple Smart probes and wired probes at the same time. 

Probe Overheating (E37): Probe has exceeded the temperature limit. Safely remove from heat to prevent damage.  

This warning is triggered if the body the Probe is is reaching a a temperature of 700F, while the probe itself is rated for 790F, the warning is trigger to notify the user to remove the probe if necessary to avoid any damage in case the temperatures starts reacing a higher limit. Please check probe placement or remove from heat to prevent damage. Always wear heat-resistant barbecue mitts or gloves (confirming to EN 407, Contact Heat rating level 2 or greater) when handling a hot probe. 

Probe Base Overheating (E41): Probe base has exceeded the temperature limit. Move to cooler location to prevent damage.  

This warning is triggered if the body of the Smart Probe is on a hot surface, in order to prevent any further damage a warning is triggered at 130F/54C. Please move the unit away from the heat source somewhere cool to continue to use the product and no longer get the persistent warning. Always wear heat-resistant barbecue mitts or gloves (conforming to EN 407, Contact Heat rating level 2 or greater) when handling a hot probe.  

Lost Connection (E44): Contact with probe has been lost. Keep device within range to ensure connection.  

During an active cook session this warning is triggered when the app loses communication with a Bluetooth (BLE). This can often occur if you have an obstruction where the Smart Probe can no longer make a connection with your Mobile device via Bluetooth. 

 

Probe Malfunction (E45): Your Smart Probe has malfunctioned. Please contact Weber Support for assistance. 

The Smart Probe Hardware Failure (E8) is an error notification triggered when the Weber Connect app not longer detects a sensor reading from the Smart Probe when turned on and Connected to the App. Most likely requires a complete product replacement.
