Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ash catcher installed - 3 min. Since my Weber kettle was a free-99 yard cleanup find, getting the deluxe ash basket wasn't an option at time of the original acquisition. My lovely dog found the ash pan to be a fantastic treat-tray that was exactly snout-height to cruse by afrer a grill session and find a tasty fatty-snack and make a nice mess on my patio. Finding that the deluxe Ash basket was an easy upgrade, I jumped on the purchase. First, off. Whomever states this is a quick install is straight lie. Took me at least 4 hrs. To install, you need to flip your kettle upside down. So i popped the lid and set my top grate aside and followed suit with lower charcoal grate. Looking at them, they were due for a little extra TLC, so I got out the grill cleaner and gave it a good scrub. 45 min later and they were back to a presentable state. Next I noticed that the bottom sweeping blades had some excess grease and ash build-up and the bottom vents were dirty. So I got out the pressure washer and gave the bowl an overdue deep cleanout inside and out. Which of course also meant I had to pressure wash the patio, i mean, gotta have a clean grilling space. Now I'm about 3hrs into the ash catcher upgrade and I finally have the weber upside down. The wheels look like they're getting a crack. So a quick search on the weber site and I ordered new wheels - they'll be here in a week. Right, back to the install. So I grabbed the box and finally opened it. Did a quick survey to ensure Right parys. Right size, and within about 3 minutes from opening the box, I've got the ring installed and the kettle back upright in grilling position. I dropped in the charcoal grate, then the grilling grate. Since everything was really clean, I gave the top grate a spin. Its supposed to spin easily, but it always hangs up around the grate handles. Not that big of a deal, but annoying when trying to spin to indirect while 2-zone grilling. Upon inspection, the handle welds just protrude beyond the grate edge just enough to catch on the support tabs. So I grab my angle grinder and knock of just a little off the bottom of all 4 handle posts. After a few runs, now the grate spins like hot butter. Tl:Dr, replaced the stock ash pan with the HC ash catcher in about 3 min. Correcting the little things with a little ADHD, 3hrs 57 min. Only 4-stars for now. Need to run a few dozen cooks to make sure the basket holds up, then will upgrade to 5.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointing quality The original ash catcher finally wore out, so I bought this one to replace it. Wish I hadn't. This one has poor specs, and always fit so loose that it would leak ash. Today I took it off and notice it had holes all through the bottom. I find it hard to believe that this thing rotted out in less than a year - the orginal one went over 10 years. Has Weber quality gone down that far?
