Stepping Up?

If you're a FOR REAL outdoor grilling enthusiast and your in the market for a new grill it's time to step up your game. The Weber Summit Series of grills will leave you wanting for nothing. Quality USA construction, Versatility plus there is nothing you can't do with this grill. Built in smoker and a large cooking area for indirect cooking. Built in sear station and tuck away rotisserie. I have owned what I believed to be well made 400 plus dollar grills that have disintegrated after a couple of years and didn't cook well at all. I decided on this last go round that I would make the investment and purchase a high end grill. I didn't know much about this grill at first so I went to a dealer to see the S-670 and once I did it was all but over. This thing is so well made and the reviews have been true to a fault. You can do as I have done, buy four or five grills over a 15 year stretch or avoid this mistake all together. Is this thing pricey? You Bet, but comparatively speaking look at the Dacors and Vikings selling at four to five grand. I have had my S-670 for three years now and it looks as good as the day it was delivered. It cooks great and it's a great source of pride because I get a lot of compliments on it. If you can swing it get it!

Great Multipurpose Grill

This is by far the best grill I have ever owned. My old grill gave up the ghost, finding repair parts was impossible, and after looking for nearly a year I finally settled on getting a premium grill. I did tons of research, and frankly there were many possibilities. For the price point, brand backing, and overall utilitarian style of cooking I chose Weber.

Initially I cooked up some chicken, and a few steaks. I wanted to acclimate myself to the new grill and figure out how to best cook on it. After a few outings I have settled into a groove. The grill performs well in both HOT and COLD weather, which I really like. I do enjoy using the searing station part of the grill. Even though its not that nice 1000 degree F temp some infrared searing stations advertise, I found with a little patience you can get all the heat you need to give that great look and flavor of Chop House style meats.

I smoked a couple sets of rib on this baby. The first outing, I simply did not give myself enough time to do a slow cook, but the silver lining was there, the knowledge that I was not only going to be able to grill, but also slow cook on this baby. My second outing was near perfection. Along with allowing for adequate time to smoke my ribs, I also moved to using larger chunks of wood for smoking. Some folks mistake smoking as having to have billowing clouds of smoke coming from your kit. It works, but thats not what it is about. The flavor of the wood (in this case hickory), comes from the coal that is created by igniting the wood, and so forth through that process of getting a nice clean burn from it. The additional heat is negligible, but all in all the flavor is from a clean burn. Chips, which I used my first go around, just burn out too fast. I also recommend getting some extra disposable drip trays for smoking. Here is the deal, those little trays make perfect smoke boxes. I added in some 3 inch cubes of hickory. You can ignite them using the built-in smoke box, and then move them to the tray. Cover with some punctured foil, and place opposite of the smoke box, and you get a nice evenly distributed smoked heat.

During my most recent outing here in North Texas, we had some sleet and rain come through. While there was a slight drop in temp from the built-in temp gauge, grill temp did not drop. I really look forward to cooking more and more on this grill as my travel schedule changes. For the most part, it is a perfect utilitarian grill. I suspect my love for smoked meats will involve a kettle set-up like my dad uses.

All in all, I see no reason for anyone looking in this price point to look any further. I have read the testimonials of folks being able to get Weber parts 15 years down the road, which for me made sense in the purchasing decision. That coupled with the reliability of this kit, it truly is worth the extra few bucks. The only negative I have, which does not impact performance in my case, I wish they had built-in lights under the hood, and fixed options for digital temp gauges. I would gladly pay the couple hundred bucks to have these options.

Awesome grill

I have had two other Weber gas grills in the past and loved them. The last one was about twelve years old and ready for a rebuild and instead decided to splurge and buy the Mac Daddy Summit stainless 670. I haven't even cooked on it yet but the engineering is superb. Once we finished the assembly my Father and I said there has to be a place for the spit rod, they thought of every thing else. I started thumbing through the manual and there it was. About twenty years ago I was complaining to an acquaintance of mine about replacing burners at least twice a year on my other grills and he told me to buy a Weber. He said once you buy a Weber you'll never buy anything else and he was absolutely correct. They're a little pricier but you get what you pay for. Like I always say : The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of cheap price. It would be nice if they would throw in a cookbook after spending about $2500.00 though. Thank you for a fine product. I'm a Weber fan forever.

Best Grill Ever

Finally. A grill with even and consistent heat. When the six burners are on low, they are all on low. The food tastes better because it is all cooked the same. The Searing Station is HOT. Much better than my last grill with a searing burner. I used to think that a grill was a grill. Not so. I'm sold on my Summit 670. A friend has told me that I will like Weber even more when I get to experience their customer service. I love the grill and recommend it highly.

Perfection

I finally decided to make the move. I purchased a Genesis back in 1998. It is still working just as great as the day I bought it. I gave it to my ex. Great cooker.

Outstanding Grill

I have had this grill for three years. It's performance is unparalleled. It heats quickly and very evenly. Temperature control is very precise. You can dial in a specific temperature and hold the temperature steady with ease. It also gets plenty of heat. The BTUs this grill can generate is fantastic. A tank of gas used 3-4 times a week lasts about a month to a month and a half. Grill ignition is no hassle. Best ignition system that I have ever seen on a grill.

Components are high grade. After three years, the stainless grates have not rusted. They are still as solid as the day I got the grill. Built in igniters are all original and still work.

Built-in rotisserie and infra red burner are one of my favorite features. The spit is heavy stainless steel. I have used it to cook turkey. This is true no hassle cooking. Mount the spit, start the infra-red and turn on the motor. No flare ups and you get evenly cooked meats with minimal supervision.

Also love the smoker. It took a little experimentation to figure out how to use it effectively. The key is to remember you are slow cooking with the smoker. Too much heat from the other burners will just push the smoke from out of the grill box. After preheat, I use just the smoker burner when smoking.

The price is steep, but this grill is built to last. My friend has bought 3 $700 grills in the time i have owned my Summitt. i can see myself still using this grill in 10 years. I highly recommend this grill.

Weber 670 grill

I have been having a Summit 670 grill for two years now. It is the best grilling pit I have ever owned. I do all kinds of grilling. I do direct and indirect grilling on my pit. It is so easy to keep clean and looking like new. I would highly recommend this pit if you want to have a grill that will last a long time and enjoy cooking on it.
