Response to "Returned to Lowes"

I'll add to this review at some point in the future when I have more experience with my Spirit -210 (natural gas model). For now I have to get used to a gas grill as I'm switching from charcoal.
I just want to comment on reviewer who returned his grill to Lowes. Basically I had the same problem I couldn't get the grill to go over 400 degrees even after running it for a half an hour. I was thinking I'd have to return it too. Also thinking cooking with gas is over rated.
Today I decided to test it again before calling Weber and I discovered that I had turned knobs all the way to what I thought was high but actually was 1/4 heat - when I turned knobs 1/4 turn to what is actually high heat the grill heated to 500 degrees in 10 minutes and went to close to 550 in about 15 minutes. I used an oven thermometer on the rack inside and that registered over 600 degrees.
I mention this because the "Returned to Lowes" review almost dissuaded me from buying this grill. What I describe above could have been his problem too.

Great new grill

This grill replaced a large Jenn-air grill that I had for 9 years. I love the compact size and even heating. I only wish the stainless steel model had an option for a side burner. Other than that, no complaints.

Super easy to assemble, but make sure you have a buddy around to help out.

Very nice!

My new Weber Spirit S-210 arrived yesterday, assembled and ready to go. I bought the natural gas version because I don't like the experience of refilling LP tanks and running out of fuel in the middle of a cookout. We wanted the Spirit S-210 based on it's smaller size, and the size is very adequate for our needs. I also like the fact that the side shelves fold down for storage. I read over the owner's manual and lit the grill. It was very responsive, fired up immediately and preheated much quicker than I was expecting. Due to time constraints, I grilled burgers last evening for the 'maiden voyage' and was very pleased with the results. Today, I had a bit more time, so I prepared an entire meal on the grill: marinated chicken breasts, grilled marinated yellow squash, grilled corn on the cob w/ basil-parmesan butter, from the Weber recipe file, and I even baked chocolate brownies for dessert, so I wouldn't have to heat up the kitchen. Everything came out very nicely, but I had to watch and check the grill frequently to avoid overcooking or burning anything, especially the brownies! The grill gets very hot and reaches the desired temperature much quicker than my old grill, which is not a complaint, but just an observation. As I get used to the grill and the heat output based on the control knob settings, I believe the cooking process will be a little more relaxing. It's a bit premature to rate the grill as to durability and overall quality, after only two days, but I'm very happy with my purchase so far. My question to the Weber customer assistance staff was answered quickly and courteously. A very nice product so far, and I would definitely recommend this product to a friend.

Well Designed!

What a pleasure to assemble this grill. The instructions were pictorial and easy to follow and everything fit perfectly. The folks that designed this grill were really very good. I've only prepared one meal so far and the outcome was excellant. Grill preheated to 550+ in less than 10 minutes. Read where this was a problem with one reviewer, but certainly not consistent with my experience.

Did call customer service to ask whether the shaped or flat side of the grates should be turned up. Answer was the flat side.

I would recommend this grill without hestitation and the customer service at Weber is excellant.

Returned To Lowe's

This is a very nice looking grill but that's it. This grill does not get hot enough to cook hamburgers, it has to be on high for the duration of the time. The people at Weber are very nice and tried to solve the issue. I even replaced the burners and tried two new propane tanks. I do believe that Weber makes a great grill, just not this model. I upgraded to a Genesis S-310 and at this time it's on order.
