Solid, quality product

I bought my Spirit 310 a couple of months ago. I've used it about 10 times and I love it. Overall, the price point and value are excellent for the occasional griller. I've owned a couple of other grills in the past but always cheaper products and I am glad a spent a few hundred extra dollars to get this grill. The added money is well worth it. The construction is really good and solid. Assembly took a bit of time but the instructions were very straightforward, easy to follow and all the pieces fit together perfectly - you don't have to force things like on some cheap products.

The burners and cast iron grills provide excellent heat control and really even cooking. What I love about it as well is that any grease drains away as designed into the grease trap/pan. On my previous cheaper grills this feature never really worked the way it should have and always led to flare ups and I was never able to leave the grill side for fear of a fire! You won't have to worry about that with this grill.

I use this grill for all kinds of foods (burgers, veggies, kebabs, fish, etc.) and I've had just about perfect results every time.

The only downside, which others mention as well, is that the Home Depot model (which is where I bought mine) does not have a hinged front door to access the propane tank. It has this cheap panel that hooks onto the front. I actually just leave it off the whole time I'm using the grill; otherwise it's a pain to take off, then turn on your propane, put the panel back on, then take it off again to turn off the gas when done, then back on. I don't understand how this design was approved - it's a shame really. It's a small thing but annoying nonetheless. I'm working on overlooking this design flaw given that everything else on this product is a 10.

cheap door for a Weber

The grille itself is ok but the plastic door is horrible. You have to remove it just to turn the gas on and it is already warped after a couple of months. If I had known they made it with a steel hinged door I would have bought that instead!

SPIRIT E-310 used on Memorial weekend.

With a large crowd to feed and out old gas grill wearing out I went to Lowes and bought a Weber Spirit E-310 today. Home Depot had the newer models with the flimsy mesh door, so I went across town to pick this up.

Negative: The side tables do not fold down. They are bolted to sides and cannot be lowered. I had to remove both side tables to fit it inot the back of my Durango for the drive home, since it was pre-assembled. I do not always want both sides of the grill jutting out when I am cooking and prefer to lay them flat to the sides of the grill when I am done, but that is not possible with this grill. Also, the cover for this $59.00 and is NOT included. The wheels are plastic and I wonder how ling they will last.

Positives: Heavy duty cast iron grates to cook on. Temperature gauge on outside. I like the propane level gauge that is included underneath where the tank goes. Just hang it on and it shows the level of the propane.

I'm a Weber guy!

Got my first Weber in 1976. A yellow kettle. Had it forever. Then moved and bought a large black kettle and also bought a small camping kettle. Later bought a red genesis 1,000. Had it for over 16 years. Moved to Florida and bought the 3 burner Sprit. I cook everyhing on these grills. Kettles are superb for turkeys using charcoal rails, drip pan etc. two chickens on the rotissiere are also great on the gas grilles. I'm on my 39 th year of Weber products. My son and his family have a gas grille also. Is there anything else hut Weber?

I LOVE Weber Gas Gills.

My wife and I purchased this grill just this morning and haven't fired it up yet. It's pretty cold outside in the Chicagoland area this time of year, and this wasn't an anticipated purchase. We chose to buy this grill to replace a 13 year old Silver Genesis A which still works as it did the day we bought it back in 2002. Oh sure, we have replaced the cooking surface and flavorizer bars... we opted for the stainless steel versions of both. But that's it. After all the years it fires up on the first or second press of the starter button every time.

We bought this grill because the hardware store that my wife works at is closing and we were able to purchase the very last one and save $160. I considered it a real "no-brainer".

We bought another brand name grill prior to purchasing the Weber Silver Genesis A but it lasted only a year or two before the burner became so rusted that it collapsed. I realized that there was really only one choice to consider. Whether you want a gas or a charcoal grill, you just can't go wrong in selecting a Weber product. My folks owned the Weber charcoal grills for decades and they were the best, but we didn't want to deal with charcoal anymore. This may be a pretty basic gas grill but I have NO worries about being disappointed. It's well built and I have no doubt that this one will be no less terrific than our Genesis.

Don't waste your money on a poor quality grill. Buy something that will stand the test of time.

Good grill but where is my steel door?

Overall, I think this is a good basic grill for the beginner or for someone with limited space. It heats up quickly , never has flare ups and is a good looking unit that is made of quality material. If you are on a budget, this is the grill for you. My only real complaint about this grill is the flimsy front cover that is exclusive to the Home Depot . The cover is constantly going out of shape making it a real pain to put on every time as it scratches the paint on the body very easily. Honestly I think Weber really cheaped out with the front cover. If ever a good old fashioned steel door is available, I will be purchasing one to install on my grill. Other than this issue, I think you will be very happy with your purchase.

Aweseome Grill!!!

We finally have a grill that does just that grills. I LOVE our Weber Grill Spirit E-310. I got so tired of buying grills, that fall apart after a year or so. A friend suggested we purchase a Weber, Boy, She was RIGHT! We haven't burned a thing! The meat has been juicy and the searing is fantastic. The flavor and texture of the meat is remarkable. We should have purchased on of these grills years ago. Please, Don't do what we did, buy generic parts, spend a whole Sunday, trying to make them fit,(of, course they say, these parts are universal, Wrong!) only to get the grill back together and try to heat it. Nothing, It didn't work. That's when I said that's it we are buying
a Weber. They have a great warranty, parts are easily available, and you know when it may need a repair, you will have the right parts for it. They cost a bit more than what you could buy at Wal-Mart, but you are getting QUALITY, that will last many, many, many years. Please, we learned the hard way, by wasting, a $100.00 for parts, and a day of frustration! You will be 150% satisfied. Weber! the Cadillac of Grills.!!!

Awesome grill!

I used a pretty decent grill for a few years, the brand I can't even remember, but it cooked well. It was expensive, in the same price range as this grill, and after 2 years the entire inside was rusted out. I had to use bricks to prop up the burners, and buy some angle iron to replace the bars. After another year, it was too far gone. Then I bought a cheap char brand grill that was $100.00. After 6 months, it too was rusted out, and to replace the grate and the heat shield, which cost almost $80.00 (almost as much as the grill). I decided to do some research, and I REALLY wanted a Genesis series, but those are pretty pricey, so I bought this Spirit instead. I am SO glad I did! This grill is built like a tank compared to my old grill. I am a little disappointed because the flavorizer bars are already starting to rust, after less than a summers worth of grilling, but the rest of the grill is still in great shape. I love that Weber really put durability in mind when building their grills. The cast aluminum fire box and end caps are awesome. Even if the inside rusts, you can easily replace parts, some of which will probably be under warranty. I'd much rather have a grill like this that is durable, because all grills cook differently, and there is always a learning curve. You won't have to re-learn how to grill every two years. And as far as the cook goes, this grill doesn't get as hot as most, which took me some time to get used to, but the food cooks lower and slower than some gas grills, and always turns out awesome. This grill is super easy to cook and maintain a specific temperature also. It can do it all, chicken, pork, beef, veggies, all turn out amazing. Weber has some AWESOME recipes too which I have tried and the food was really moist and full of flavor and cooked to perfection! These porcelain cast iron grates are the best. They are so heavy! I expect them to last a long time. Flat side up on the grates. Lowe's put this together and I cooked a few times before I realized they put them in wrong.....lol They do tend to stick even when you oil your food, but a sharp ended spatula like I use can easily unstick the food. Once the food is seared it isn't a problem. Do yourself a favor, and buy some glass cleaner and some stainless steel cleaner, because after you use this grill, you will want to keep it pretty because you will be in love with it! lol

Weber Spirit 310 LP Grill

I had a Weber LP Gas Grill for 16-years and have just now replaced it with the Weber Spirit 310 LP grill. We hope the new grill will hold up even longer than the last one. We think that Weber is the only way to go when it comes to gas grills. I tell people when they tell me they just bought a new gas grill that if they didn't buy a Weber then they really didn't buy a grill. Our previous Weber Gas grill worked perfectly for all the years we owned it. I did repair it a few times myself with Weber parts but it was nothing serious. The new grill has the same features as our old one but just updated. I would recommend a Weber Gas Grill to anyone considering the purchase of a grill. You will spend a little more but it might last you 20-years if taken care of properly.

Spirit E-310 with the Gourmet BBQ System, exclusively at The Home Depot

Weber made some adjustments to the Spirit E-310 in the version exclusively for The Home Depot, to include the Gourmet BBQ System. This review will discuss the pros and cons of those adjustments.

For those not familiar with the Gourmet BBQ System, it brings new possibilities to your grilling. The grate of the grill has a circular insert in the middle that allows for new accessories to be used. From a Wok to a Pizza Stone, this updated design is rather versatile. Unfortunately, Weber has made some adjustments to the design and materials that makes this grill fall short to the standard of quality Weber is known for.

DURABILITY: Unfortunately, this is where this version of the E-310 falls short. Instead of sticking with the stainless steel found on the original E-310, this version uses enameled steel. After owning the grill for 45 days, the two side tables and the front control panel started to show rust. This was brought to the attention of Weber Customer Service and after they review the pictures I sent, they agreed it looked like rust and sent me a new control panel and side tables.
Instead of the standard door for the lower compartment, this version sports a flimsy drop down insert. While it’s advertised as modern and stylish, the insert is very poorly constructed and I have difficulties imagining it lasting for many years to come. Made mostly of a plastic material that can flex, the edges of the insert are framed with what looks to be aluminum. Since the plastic is easily bent, the aluminum frame quickly loses its shape. This is a problem since it’s best practice to turn the propane on and off with each grilling session. The hooks that hold the insert in place also bend easily and will eventually break off, not able to hold the insert in place at all. Eventually, exposing the storage compartment and propane tank of this Weber grill as a poolside eyesore.

COOKING PERFORMANCE: This grill may not get hot as fast as other Weber grills, but it does a good job. The Gourmet BBQ System puts this grill in a notch above others, because it does offer versatility. I do like the cast iron cross-pattern searing grate insert. The griddle insert seems like it would be useful, but I haven’t had the opportunity to use it or the pizza stone insert yet.

VALUE: When I look at the overall value of this grill, it was not what I hoped for. When I assess its value, I’m looking for quality for the money and if the product is worth my time. Since the design cuts corners on the materials, quality for the money has become an issue. Only after having it for 45 days, three main components of the grill started to rust. Granted, Weber is sending replacements, but this is not a headache I should have to deal with on an outdoor grill within the first two months. Since I’m already starting to see other issues with the materials used in this grill, it’s hard for me to recommend it for its value. I wish Weber just increased the price a bit and used the same quality of materials.

OVERALL QUALITY: Function wise the quality of the grill is high. Materials wise it does not live up to the standard Weber is known for. I’ve been using family members One-Touch and Genesis grills for years. I thought I would get similar quality out of this grill, unfortunately the decisions to use lesser grade materials was disappointing.

Do it right and get a Weber

This is my third Weber grill. In college, I had a small Weber charcoal grill. For the past 5 years, I used the Weber Q 100 because I lived in a condo with limited outdoor space. I just got married and built a house. It was time for a bigger grill and I wanted a Weber based on how durable my Weber Q is. I left that grill outside and uncovered for 5 years! I never had to replace anything on that grill and it has survived a few harsh winters and a few rainy seasons. I've had the Spirit E-310 for 2 weeks and have used it 5 times. It's the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. It is easy to assemble. It cooks evenly and efficiently. I've cooked beef, chicken, fish, and vegetable so the grill. It can handle delicate foods just fine. The grill is built very solid. The gas tank gauge is a really cool feature. I am confident that this grill prove its durability and quality. My parents have a high-end grill made by a brand you can only get at Sears. I used it today at their cookout. Although it is nice, it didn't cook as evenly across the grilling surface as the Weber Spirit. Their grill also took longer to reach a pre-heat temperature of 500 degrees. I cooked burgers in the corner of my Weber and those cooked just as good as the burgers in the middle of the grate. Also, the Weber Spirit E-310 is easy to clean with the pull-out bottom tray.

My Weber Q hasn't been decommissioned... It will still be put to good use at tailgates for many football seasons to come! I'm looking to many good years and many great meals with my Spirit E-310!

Exactly what I needed.

To start out I looked at many grills in home improvement stores and found most of them cheap quality and to have short warranty's. I decided that if I was going to purchase a new one I wanted something that would last at least 10 years of regular year round use. I looked at a Genesis model E-310 but the $200 higher price tag prevented serious consideration so I then started looking at the Spirit line. Initially I considered the 2 burner Spirit E-210 but decided that I would outgrow it quickly so the E-310 was the obvious choice. I have grilled on my new Spirit E-310 about a dozen times now and am very pleased with it. In the near Zero degree weather that Chicago has been experiencing lately it gets to 525 degrees in 15 minutes on high and is very even heating. I would not hesitate to recommend this grill to anyone that values quality and a excellent warranty above added bells and whistles.

Wow

Amazing grill for the money. Her heat is evenly spread and she can handle meats of all size and variety!! I do not think any piece of meat would be too large or small for her. Just the other day, I had a group of people over for a backyard bbq and I grilled ten sausages, twenty five wieners and 40 chicken wings without a problem. It was perfect.

WOW! What a grill!

After owning and disposing of several lesser quality "big box store" gas grills, Weber stands alone on all the criteria by which I judge grills. Among the lower criteria is ease of relocation. This grill rolls easily and locks in place securely. The igniter is battery powered, solidly constructed, operates quietly, works every time. The gas knobs operate smoothly, the heat scale is legible, and the design on the knobs makes for accurate setting. Construction is of heavy guage enameled metal, it feels solid. Storage below the grill is easily accessible and allows for mounting the gas tank in a traditional well or hanging it on a meter that shows fullness. The interior of the grill is uncluttered, the design is simple, easy to clean and has no cheap metal elements to rust away. The drippings tray is removeable for easy cleaning and funnels drippings into a disposable aluminum tray. The stainless steel gas tubes are solidly constructed, are guaranteed for 10 years, and distribute heat evenly. The flavor bars are heavy guage enameled steel that will not rust away prematurely. My grill has seasoned cast iron grilling grates that offer two different surfaces - flat or V-shaped and distribute heat evenly - I love cast iron cookware. Just need to be careful about dropping them. Heat distribution throughout the interior is exceptionally even and the thermometer is accurate. This is a superior grill and well worth the price. Cost is what kept me from purchasing a Weber grill earlier because I didn't look closely at how much value there is compared to cheaper ones.

This is my first Weber grill. This is the most quiet gas grill that I have ever owned. The first time that I lit it I did not think that it was lit because I could not hear the gas,but it was lit. It has very even heat.We fixed burgers the first time. They were the best burgers that I have ever fixed on a gas grill. I can not wait to try other meats. This is a superb grill.

Lovin' It!

I have been shopping Weber grills for 12 years but for one reason or another I never purchased until 3 months ago. I've owned 5 other grills during that time; an electric (apartment rules), a charcoal, and multiple other brands of gas grills. Generally, all were ok in the beginning but they wore out after the first season. I'd buy parts to rebuild them for the next season but the parts were generic and never worked as well as the original. By the second season the parts weren't even available.

This season I had the opportunity to buy a Weber. I wanted the Genesis S-330. It wouldn't fit in the car. Plan B was the Spirit E-310. It fit exactly. The reality is it fit our life exactly as well. Since we are a family of 5, I usually only use one side to grill. I was worried it wouldn't be big enough for backyard bbq's. It is definitely big enough to entertain. I've already had 20+ 1/3lb hamburger patties from Costco going with a package of hot dogs on the upper rack. BTW - food doesn't seem to burn up there so the kids got their dogs without the char and are very happy. I also was able to roast a 21lb turkey on the 310 using the Weber rotisserie. I had to take out the grates but it worked great and tasted even better!

I can already see I will need to replace the flavorizers and the bits that span the burners in a couple years. I am not worried though. I know I will be able to get Weber parts when I need to. I used to think you get about a year per $100 you spend on a grill. That was the cheaper ones. I am expecting 3-5 years per $100 spent on the Weber based on build quality and the materials used. Time will tell...

Quality Grill

I've had a couple of Weber grills (Genisis Jr and a One touch gold charcoal grill) and they've all proven to be very capable grills that have a quality that you don't find in the cheaper brands. Weber grills are always a little more expensive than other brands, but I've found the higher price to be worth it.

My Weber Spirit E-310 is no exception. While it might be the "entry level" grill in Weber's line up, it's got the same quality and performance as the higher end Genesis series. My Dad has a brand new Genesis grill, and when I compare the two grills, I'm very happy with how my Spirit compares. It's built well, heats up fast, and cooks evenly. What more can you ask? It might have the fancy built in rotisserie, knobs that light up, or a side burner, but I didn't want those features anyway. I just wanted a basic quality grill that cooked well and would last me 20+ years like my 1990 Genesis Jr did. I'm very happy with my Weber Spirit.

The Bachelor's/Starting Couple's Grill

I've now had my Weber Spirit E-310 for about a month, grilling out 3-6 times a week. I picked up this gas grill for regular use to cook for my girlfriend and I. Gas is easier for me throughout the work week for quick meals. I have a Weber Kettle for slow cook jobs, but the Spirit definitely sees the most use. Purchased at Lowe's on sale for $400. Assembled and delivered to my house at no additional charge.

The grill is built like a tank, and is something you'd expect from a Weber product. My grill sits covered and in the garage. I baby it just because it is such a thing of beauty, I intend for it to last several years until I can finally move up to a Summit 4 or 6 burner.

This grill gets it done. Catch it on sale in the summertime and it can be found for $300-400 retail (normal price about $500 retail). I opted not to get the extra side burner. I've never really used one, and always heard they run too hot to really do anything (read a review that even heating up a can of baked beans on low can result in a burnt bottom with the burner on low). In case of a weather disaster where I use the grill as a primary cooking source due to power outage, it is a gas grill. A pot can easily be placed on the grates and heated up for boiling water, rather than using a side burner.

It's a wonderful addition. Yesterday for lunch, I grilled some marinated chicken and broccoli. Last night, had 4 friends over, and the grill had adequate space to provide a massive foil pouch of diced peppers and onions, 5 ears of corn on the cob, and 5 steaks. Variation of ribeyes, and porterhouses. The grill was packed, with just enough room between foods. Not exactly how I like to cook, but surprisingly it handled it like a champ. Mind you, this was a massive foil pouch packed with peppers and onions to serve 5, 5 ears of corn on the cob, and 5 big steaks, all 1+ pounds each. That's a lot of food, the grill cooked evenly and all the food came out delicious. No shifting around the grill to compensate for hot/cold spots. Again, for the bachelor/starting couple; this will see you through the start of a family/smallish group dinners.

For the entry level griller, looking for value, this is it. The only thing better value I would say is the Spirit E-210 but I opted to splurge the extra $100 for the 3rd burner. You'll be thanking yourself later due to better temperature control for indirect heat cooking. If your option is a Spirit E-220 (2-burner with a side burner), or the E-310 (3-burner with no side burner), get the E-310. More practicality in daily usage.

I can't speak for the longevity of the grill yet, but considering the Weber warranty, I'm not too worried. In regards to rust, durability, etc. Just remember. You're spending several hundred dollars on an appliance for your home. Treat it as such. Take care of it with regular maintenance. Don't be lazy and leave it out in the rain, and if it does sit outside all the time to face the elements, buy a cover. Would you leave your car windows down or a convertible top open in the rain? Didn't think so.

I hope you found this review helpful in your decision. Happy grilling!
