Braised Red Cabbage with Red Wine

  • Completed step ½ red cabbage, shredded
  • Completed step 2 carrots (2cm, slice at angle)
  • Completed step 1 red onion peeled and thinly sliced
  • Completed step Zest and juice of half an orange
  • Completed step ½ tsp. ground cloves
  • Completed step 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • Completed step Brown sugar
  • Completed step 125ml red wine
  • Completed step 50ml water
  • Completed step 2 tbsp soft brown sugar
  • Completed step Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Serve this delicious braised red cabbage recipe alongside your roasts for an extra burst of colour and flavour.

In the kitchen:
  • Mix together all the ingredients in a large heat proof, high-sided roasting tray or two large Weber Drip Pans.
  • Cover with foil tightly so the liquid is contained if it boils.
At the barbecue:
  • Prepare the barbecue for indirect heat, approx. 180°C.
  • Cook indirectly for 40-50 mins, or until the cabbage has softened and the liquid has reduced.
  • Season to taste and serve.
