Q: I just got a WSM 22 1/2" for Christmas to compliment my 22 1/2" kettle grill. I haven't had chance to break it in yet, but my question is do I need to burn it hot for a little while before I throw the meat on there? I have read some people say yes you should to get any of the manufacturing stuff burned off and then others who say don't worry about it so I figured I would come straight to the source...Suggestions??
A: Congratulations on the new grill! Yes we suggest preheating the grill for 20 minutes before the first use. This should burn off any packing material or oil. Then throw your food on the grill and you are good to go. Happy Grilling!
