A barbecue revolution inspired by the backyard, the balcony, the beach and the bush

In the early 2000’s, Weber was a household name – or should we say a backyard name? Australians and New Zealanders loved feeding, entertaining and making memories with friends and family in the backyard around their Weber barbecue.

Ross McDonald, who’d introduced the original Weber kettle to Australians in 1978, had a vision. He wanted people to enjoy that unmistakable Weber flavour wherever they were outdoors - in the backyard, on the balcony, at the beach or in the bush.

The first Weber Q was born in 2003, with a revolutionary design that immediately caught people’s attention. It was completely different to anything we’d seen before, and it was a game-changer in barbecuing.

With the convenience of a compact, lightweight gas barbecue, you could grill up a weeknight meal, cook a perfect Sunday roast with all the trimmings and even bake a cake – wherever you were outdoors.

In a memorable national television advertising campaign that ran from 2004 to 2010, the Weber Q brand became a household name, thanks to the catchy catchphrase, "I love my Weber Q." However, it wasn't just the catchy slogan that captured hearts; it was the promise of that exceptional Weber flavour and the dream of sharing it with loved ones during beach outings, road trips, and family picnics that catapulted the Weber Q into the hearts of Australians and New Zealanders, making it the country's most sought-after range of barbecues.

Now, two decades after the debut of the original Weber Q, the newest iteration of this iconic barbecue has emerged. In true Weber fashion, it has undergone a reimagining and redesign, but its core purpose remains unaltered: to unite people over delicious meals, no matter where they find themselves in the great outdoors.
