Famous Burger Inspired Monkey Bread

Recipe created by: The Weber Grill Academy - Canada

Serves: 4-6 |  Prep time: 15 – 20 minutes |  Grilling time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Ball premade pizza dough (approx. 100 grams)
  • 4 tablespoons favourite Tomato / Pizza sauce
  • 6 tablespoons of Thousand Island salad dressing
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cups of cooked ground beef (seasoned with salt and pepper to taste)
  • ½ medium sized onion finely chopped
  • 2-4 medium sized pickles roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds
  • ½ cup of shredded iceberg lettuce
  • ¼ cup of melted butter

 Instructions

1.   Preheat the grill for indirect cooking at 375F and grease a 9 inch bundt pan.

2.   Sauté the ground beef seasoning it with salt and pepper to taste, set aside and let cool. Roughly chop the pickles and finely chop the onions and set aside. Once everything is at room temperature, in a large bowl mix all 3 ingredients together and add the shredded cheese.

3.   In another bowl mix the tomato sauce and the thousand island dressing together.

 4.   Cut or tear the dough-balls into 2oz. pieces, about the size of a golf ball. Toss them all in the melted butter then sprinkle them with the sesame seeds.

5.   Take 1/3 of the small dough-balls and arrange them in the bottom of the prepared bundt pan. Spread 2 tablespoons of the tomato and thousand island sauce over the dough-balls and then sprinkle ½ a cup of the ground beef mixture over top. Repeat with next 1/3 of the dough-balls and sauce and beef mixture and finish with the last 1/3 of the dough-balls at the very top of the bundt pan.

6.   Place the filled bundt pan in the center of the grill over the indirect heat and cook for at least 25-30 minutes. Once cooked flip the monkey bread out onto a baking sheet and place back on the grill for another 5-10 minutes to crisp up the top.

7.   Remove from the grill and dress with lettuce, cheese and extra sauce. Do not cut! The bread just pulls apart for YOUR enjoyment!
