Rated 4 out of 5 by EmiS from Makes me a more confident griller As a beginner charcoal griller, I’m finding this smart ring to be a really useful tool. Being able to remotely check the grill temperature and food temperature makes me feel like I don’t have to babysit the grill as much. I don’t feel the urge to open it constantly and it does a pretty good job of regulating the temperature. It was fairly easy to assemble, although a few of the instruction steps could have been clearer. My biggest issue with this product is that it has to be plugged in which is kind of inconvenient because I have to run an extension cord to it. It would be nice if there was a battery powered / rechargeable version. I do like that it’s not permanently attached to the grill so I can choose when I want to use it or not.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KathleenS from Smart ring review I found the smart ring to be incredibly helpful, especially for long overnight cooks. The app felt similar to using a Bluetooth wireless temperature probe, both in terms of setting up cooks and configuring alerts. The smart rind itself was simple to assemble and sit on your Weber kettle grill. At first, I felt a bit intimidated using it. There’s a lot of how to set it up so you don’t damage the grill or the smart ring. Weber sent me both their kettle grill and this smart ring to test and review, and I had little experience cooking with charcoal beforehand. However, it’s honestly become my favorite method of grilling. The smart ring essentially eliminates the need to use the kettles bottom air vents. In fact, those air vents must remain closed in order to use the smart ring properly. The smart ring maintains air flow to help maintain your desired cooking temperature. You’ll still need to monitor your coals to keep the temperature consistent but it allows you to know when to check when the temperature is dropping without opening the lid prematurely. It provided me so much peace of mind during overnight cooking. When I woke up I checked the app to make sure the temperature was right. A couple complaints I have is first, it’s not all that easy to store when it’s not in use. The protruding air vent makes it awkward to place on a shelf or hang. I’ve ended up hanging it upside down on my pellet grill smokestack upside down. Lastly, shutting the unit down can be time consuming. It must remain plugged in until it’s fully cooled down. I assume this is to prevent heat or backdraft from damaging the internal components. Despite a couple drawbacks, I did enjoy using the smart ring and find it be be useful in my grilling set up.
