One of the exciting features of the Genesis II line are the reversible porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates. One side of the grate is thin, the other side is wide and flat.
The thinner side of the cooking grate is ideal for delicate foods such as fish and shrimp, while the wider side creates thick sear marks enhancing the texture and flavor of your food.
Porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates typically retain heat better and longer than the other types, giving you those fantastic sear marks on your protiens.
Another benefit of the new grates is the 5 year no rust/no burn through warranty.
These grates also do not need to be seasoned. Simply preheat your grill with all burners on high for 12-15 minutes, brush the grates clean with a stainless steel bristle brush, adjust the burners to your desired cooking temperature, and you are good to grill!
