Grilling For My Daughter On Father's Day

With Father’s Day right around the corner, I know everyone is thinking about the perfect thing to get dad. There are plenty of options, but for me, it always is the same thing…a perfectly grilled meal.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that my first memory of grilling was at the age of five in the backyard with my dad. I can still see my dad flipping over steaks for our family on our Weber kettle while I played with my siblings.

Fast forward to today, and I can’t help but think about what my daughter’s first memory of grilling will be. She’s seen me in the backyard by the grill too many times to count in her first year and a half of life, and she is also very aware of what the grill does…provide her with her favorite foods.

At 19 months, she already loves barbecue and I am not surprised. She has no problem pointing out the window to the grill and insinuating she would like me to go out and throw something on there for her to enjoy. I’m not sure how many 19 month olds love brisket, pulled pork, and grilled chicken, but she sure does.

The excitement on her face when I walk up the deck with a platter of grilled food melts my heart.

As I get older, I realize more and more that everything comes full circle. It started with me watching my dad grill in the backyard, to now grilling for my daughter. It never ceases to amaze me how much of an experience it is to grill for those you love.

So, that being said, make sure you show dad how special he is by grilling a complete meal for him to enjoy. It will not only provide you with a delicious meal, but memories that will last a lifetime.
