Senior Manager – Financial Reporting and Accounting

Summary:

The Senior Manager – Financial Reporting and Accounting will be responsible for the daily activities of the financial reporting and general ledger teams. This includes responsibilities to direct the monthly process to consolidate the worldwide financial results of Weber-Stephen Products LLC and its subsidiaries, including overseeing the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements (i.e., balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements) for use by management. The Senior Manager – Financial Reporting and Accounting will also be responsible for the management of the general ledger at the corporate headquarters and its submission into the consolidation process. This general ledger houses the accounts for the Americas region, the supply chain function and the corporate departments. The Senior Manager – Financial Reporting and Accounting will provide oversight to the general ledger accounting function, as well as the accounts payable function.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs the monthly consolidation process, including the preparation and recording of elimination entries and reconciliation of intercompany accounts. Ensures that all reporting entities submit their monthly results on a timely basis.
  • Directs the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial statements, including consolidated balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements. This also includes the preparation of footnotes for the annual audited financial statements at the end of each fiscal year.
  • As assigned, actively participates in new technical accounting matters that arise during the fiscal year, including completing the research and documentation of accounting conclusions in technical accounting memorandum.
  • Manages the general ledger accounting team that records the monthly journal entries into the SAP general ledger, as well as oversees the monthly general ledger close process. This includes the recording of cash transactions, booking monthly accruals, recording fixed asset transactions, ensuring proper departmental expense recognition, etc. This also includes reviewing monthly results to ensure that they are reasonable and ensures that unusual items are properly investigated and resolved.
  • Manages the accounts payable team which processes the payment of all vendor invoices. This includes vendors for the Americas team, the supply chain function and the corporate departments. Currently, this involves approximately 110,000 invoices per year.
  • Responsible for the monthly accounting of all significant and more complex accounting areas, including warranty reserve, interest rate hedges, currency rate hedges, revenue recognition matters, lease accounting, impairment assessments, among others.
  • Key contact for the annual, yearend audit with external auditors. This also includes the preparation of various audit support documents.
  • Key contact for any internal audit reviews conducted and covering areas of responsibilities.
  • Leads and participates in various Finance continuous improvement initiatives and projects; working either independently, cross-functionally, or within the broader Finance function.
  • Contributes to and completes special projects, as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of combined experience in public accounting and private company accounting responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, Masters in Accounting or MBA preferred.
  • Experience required in researching and documenting technical accounting matters and conclusions.
  • CPA required.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
