Summary

Responsible for maintaining and administering Weber-Stephen Products crucial computer networks. Primary duties will include maintenance of networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, and replacing faulty network components when necessary. Assisting the Network Manager in selecting, designing and implementing new network technologies and sites as well as upgrading existing networks. This role will also work closely with network users in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems.

To be successful, you must have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. Ideal candidates will also have competencies in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network devices including Cisco routers, switches, WAPs and controllers, ASA and FPR firewalls, and Nexus. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
  • Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
  • Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
  • Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
  • Designing, configuring and testing networking software, hardware, and operating system software.

Education and/or Experience

  • A Degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including Cisco routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points, ASA/FPR firewalls, Nexus.
  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot issues remotely.
  • Working knowledge of OSPF; BGP is a plus
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with Cisco Prime Infrastructure; Cisco DNA is a plus.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with Cisco Identity Services Engine.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation.
  • Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.
  • Network security experience.
  • LAN and WAN experience.
