Responsible for all regulatory aspects of New Product Development (NPD) for IoT and electrical/electronic grills and accessories, including but not limited to: design review related to associated global standards and product safety, entering of technical information into data label system, assisting with creation of collateral material, and participating in pre-agency testing and review of associated data. Serve as main point of contact with multiple test labs and agencies globally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with regulatory agencies globally to insure regulatory compliance for all IoT and electrical/electronic grills and accessories.
  • Responsible for all regulatory aspects of NPD from concept to certification, including capturing all details of agency testing via a reliable tracking mechanism.
  • Oversees and is accountable for overall compliance activities including WLAN, BLE SIG, EU Radio Equipment Directive, FCC, IC, IFETEL, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain all required paperwork for global regulatory product compliance.
  • Participate in various pre-agency tests as a resource for Research & Development (R&D).
  • Review all pre-agency test data with R&D Lab Manager, Project Engineer, and Product Management with respect to the various global standards before any samples are shipped to test labs.
  • Become department’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) with all respective product standards. Provide regulatory support, guidance, and interpretation of standards for all areas of the company.
  • Provide technical product support to Product Management, Technical Communications, Creative Services, QA and Engineering.
  • Attend meetings (i.e. Project Team), providing regulatory expertise and direction for products, being able to relate products to regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for inputting and maintaining data label information in the associated system, and communicating NPD information to team in Asia.
  • Ensure accuracy of content of all test reports and certificates issued by global test agencies.
  • Provide regulatory documentation to Weber subsidiaries (as required).
  • Complete information on New Item Request (NIR) and Key Data Sheet (KDS) forms pertaining to IoT and electrical/electronic projects.
  • Accompany auditors from the various certification bodies that are required to audit Weber production facilities as part of our certification (as required).
  • Ensure that all required information (i.e. warning statements, compliance statements, output power, energy consumption data, etc.) is current in all affected product literature and that all data, product, and
  • carton labels are accurate. Responsible for ensuring all product literature, data, product and carton labels are reviewed and updated whenever an update to any global standards are published.


  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally at all levels from the shop floor to Executive level in order to justify strategies and implement them effectively.
  • Ability to read technical documents
  • Competence with Microsoft Office software required

  • Is an effective problem solver, with ability to utilize analytical techniques to resolve conceptual issues.
  • Must be willing to travel as required
  • The ability to work with and gain support from other departments, including IT, Customer Service, Finance, and Sales

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with wireless technologies including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Experience with regulatory processes related to and launching mass-produced consumer electronics/electrical appliances.
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory standards in relation to our products and requirements to obtain global product certification, including, but not limited to, IEC/EN 60950 and IEC/EN 62638.
