National Account Manager – Home Depot

Summary

The National Account Manager (NAM) is responsible for the day to day duties that support Weber’s strategic sales plans specific to Home Depot. The NAM executes tactical plans developed in collaboration with the Director, Sales for Home Depot helping to achieve aggressive sales and market share objectives. The NAM will ensure that required support documentation, including category analytical data, is produced accurately and timely. Critical to this position is the support and interaction with cross functional teams, including merchandising, sales, forecasting, planning, dealer service, rep groups and customer contacts within each retail account. Direct and assist in the sale of Weber gas/charcoal grills, Q, and Weber accessories to defined NA retail group.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop sales growth initiatives in collaboration with Director, Sales- Home Depot to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Conduct market research to determine viable product mixes within national planograms.
  • Identify opportunities and trends both within Weber and from competitive products that might make sense in NA retail group.
  • Help identify events and product displays, then work in cooperation with core team (product management, forecasting, and logistics) to produce, sell, and execute within NA retail group.
  • Travel as required by business conditions to call on key customers, gather market intelligence or attend shows. Travel as needed to observe Weber Brand Destinations that our merchandising, signage and pricing are appropriate.
  • Work in cooperation with sales leadership and forecasting team to gather retail POS, analyze category, predict future business and suggest alternatives.
  • Track purchase orders, forecasts, in store inventory levels, on time shipments and relevant data to ensure smooth daily operations of each retail account.
  • Develop and maintain working relationship with Home Depot personnel. This could include their buyer, business analyst, forecasting, logistics, marketing and advertising associates, depending on the account.
  • All correspondence to representatives and customers must be maintained in Weber-Stephen N drive, known as the Share-It file by year, rep or customer.
  • In cooperation with sales leadership and the Weber Grill Academy, develop training program and implement, specifically for Lowe’s (not Lowes, Home Depot), but the other account groups may follow.
  • Work in cooperation with sales leadership to monitor all NA websites to ensure all Weber products appear accurate and maintain updated information.
  • Work with merchant teams on online activities, price changes, content, available video and Brand Page opportunities.
  • Champion internal execution to ensure world class performance for our national account group.
  • Read, understand and analyze data.
  • Ability to self-start and move forward special projects and sales initiatives in a timely manner.
  • Participation in conference calls with representatives from our retail account base.
  • Report back to Director, Sales on competitive issues and sales activity in market.
  • Work with all departments to resolve any issues that restrict business position with customers in your sales territory (i.e. help Credit Department to help collect delinquent payments when needed).
  • Design sales presentations with pertinent content to Weber business partners.
Education, Qualifications and/or Experience:
  • Four-year college degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3+ years sales experience, preferably in consumer products
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven success directly managing regional and national retailers, including experience calling on big-box DIY
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to understand retail sales
  • Possess strong conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated ability to build relationships and key partnerships
  • Possess strong business and financial acumen
  • Proven success coaching and leading business professionals
  • Proven success developing, presenting, and implementing business plans
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SAP
  • Highly enthusiastic and hands-on business approach
  • Skilled multi-tasker with a proven ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate into impactful sales results
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement training programs.
