Summary of responsibilities:
The Intern will support Global Logistics & Trade activities, with emphasis on analysis of existing supply chain product flow, modeling of future costs related to cross border movement, and development of metrics-based reports relating to international trade compliance. 

Proposed Projects to be completed:

  • Support Request for Quotation for Weber Customs Brokers
  • Determine Duties and Fees for FY19 Standard Costs
  • Develop Savings Analysis for Weber Subsidiaries/Customers with Free Trade Agreement selection
  • Country of Origin and Harmonized Tariff analysis and update
  • Develop a business case for Foreign Trade Zone or Duty Drawback
  • Develop KPI reporting out of Freight Payment Processor – Determine opportunities to get Freight Spend under management

Requested Schedule/Work hours:

Internship Program dates: May 20th – August 9th 2019

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (hour unpaid lunch)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

International Logistics & Trade Analysis

  • Research online resources to determine trade barriers and tariff costs in multiple countries
  • Review sales data to determine costs savings and opportunities as related to Free Trade Agreements
  • Research customs broker capacities for RFQ
  • Gather bids and perform analysis for customs broker selection
  • Customs / Trade Project analysis

Intern program:

  • Participate and attend weekly intern lunch discussions/training
  • Define and complete a series of goals.
  • Create, execute and measure a project or projects.
  • Develop a presentation at the conclusion of the internship based on learnings from the summer.

Metrics: Success for the Intern will result in:

  • Identifying and accomplishing 1 personal goal and 3-4 business goals.
  • A final presentation in front of the appropriate team.

Required Skills:

  • Interest in International Trade and Import/Export
  • Capacity to learn about Weber’s Global Supply Chain
  • Positive & collaborative teamwork / communication
  • Aptitude for research / analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Tableau (not required, but helpful)

Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time. When working from home the intern is expected to be working and if there are any violations of this trust the individual will be asked to come to office to work those shifts.

Education and/or Experience
Currently enrolled in a 4 year university/college pursuing a BS or BA degree.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
