Summary
The Global Marketing team is building the future strategy for incorporating big data and analytics into marketing and consumer segmentation at Weber.  This position requires analytics management experience, solid business and marketing understanding, ability to build a marketing database, and experience building an advanced analytics team.

The successful candidate will concentrate on two focus areas: (1) building database and advanced analytics capabilities, and (2) delivering insights. This position will oversee Weber’s analytic database build, provide strategic thought leadership on future data needs, develop business KPIs and advanced analytics to drive business insights. In addition, this person will identify opportunities for product innovation, ROI assessment tools, increase consumer lifetime value, and monetization of the database. The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership and influence with the ability to communicate a clear vision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Database Build Related Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic thought-leader in all things data- and advanced analytics related (machine learning, predictive modeling, big data, deep learning, cloud computing, database build, etc.)
  • Develop both the short- and long-term database and analytic capabilities and functionalities at Weber Stephen by building a database that supports advanced analytics, reporting, marketing, finance, sales and product innovation
  • Act as project/program manager for all database-related build activities, including proposals, budgets, timelines and hiring/managing appropriate resources
  • Assess available data sources and functional systems, and drive a strategic road-map that outlines how to collect, house and analyze big data and large datasets
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper technical and privacy/security governance requirements are met
  • Work with European, Asian, and Latin American to develop database requirements and functionalities outside of U.S.
  • Work continuously with IT teams to integrate data from new sources. Support the development and implementation of new reporting requirements with the IT team and identify the appropriate structure to capture the appropriate KPIs in software databases
  • Drive continual product and database improvements and inform the innovation roadmap
  • Recruit, train and manage Business Analysts (BAs), Database Administrators (DBAs), Data Engineers

Advanced Analytics Related Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Consumer Insights and Analytics, marketing, and iGrill teams to drive long-term consumer strategy
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets to uncover consumer insights and help guide marketing initiatives, product development and marketing segmentation
  • Pro-actively monitor industry trends in big data, analytics, data visualization, etc. including new capabilities, technology, vendors and tools
  • Hands-on with the data to support analysis and reporting needs throughout the organization. Develop key data dashboards for Executive and Marketing team.
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs and help achieve organizational goals
  • Develop long-term advanced data capabilities such as predictive modeling, customer segmentation, text analytics, response modeling, churn, loyalty marketing. Build attribution, ROI, MMX models
  • Leverage iGrill and app data to drive insights.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position has 1 direct report.

Education and or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Marketing Analytics, Computer Science or related field, graduate degree preferred
  • 8-10 years of data analytics experience with a proven history of launching successful big data and analytics initiatives
  • Experience managing and scaling large technical teams
  • Ability to manage projects, budgets and timelines for technical projects
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to disseminate technical ideas in easily digestible pieces and influence decision making 
  • Excellent ability to strategize both short- and long-term analytic goals and evaluate the technical requirements to achieve those goals 
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages, databases, data and at least one data programming language (SAS, R, Python, Google Analytics, Firebase and/or SQL). Highly competent skill level with Microsoft Office Suite, SPSS a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of learning new technologies quickly
  • Experience visualizing data in dashboards and reports
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques. Experience with marketing analytics (ROI, Marketing Mix Modeling, Web Analytics) a plus
