SmokeFire EX6 Wood Fired Pellet Grill is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 269.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from On the fence. The concept is great, but in reality, as is it doesn't quite work the way it is intended. The open bottom fire pot doesn't allow the ash to fall into the ash drawer leaving a lot of ash in the barrel after just one cook. I line mine with foil so its easier to clean. And you need to use a drip pan to catch the fat from fattier cuts or you do run a risk of a grease fire on the bottom. The hopper issues are a problem. I don't understand why the made the lod open they did. I get maybe its so you can access it from the front, but having it open the opposite way would make pouring the pellets in easier. Plus im already getting smoke creosote on the hopper lid because the vents direct the smoke on to the lid. It does have potential, but its definitely a work in progress.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Weber Quality! I was really excited about this new Weber Pellet Grill. I owned a Firewalker and though it had some design issues that the Weber EX6 seemed to address I went ahead and gave away my Firewalker and purchased the Smokefire. Pros that I like that my old cooker couldn't deliver: Larger cook capacity, shorter Auger, WIFI, Weber name. Unfortunatly, I am dissappointed about some new issues: Hopper doesnt feed, Ash and grease build up, I need to clean after every cook, and I have to push the pellets down to keep the cook going. Not what I expected from a Weber product. Might look to return.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sad to say.... I was hoping all the bad reviews were mostly user error. Yuppies who dont know how to change their oil types that like to complain about everything. Well that's not the case. Mine is a complete pile. Seriously too many things to go into. A quick list includes the computer is super glitchy, shut down mode by itself and you cant cancel it (and it takes 15 minutes), pellet feeding needs assistance every 30 mins, doesn't light the pellets half the time. It's pretty bad I'm sorry to say. Not even usable really. I'll be taking it back. Feel sorry or weber, they going to catch a bunch of stuff for this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk This thing is a piece of junk. All the heat/flame points to the right side of the grill. Right flavorizer bars are charred/discolored, while the left side looks like new. Ash gets blown everywhere inside this grill EXCEPT into the ash collection tray. Pellets get hung up in the feeder and stop going into the auger. Totally useless. Weber on the phone has had no useful suggestions, although my ticket remains open. The retailer I bought this at refuses to take it back or give me store credit. Look on youtube before you buy, no one is happy with this thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It’s a sad day As a long time a Weber fan, with four other Weber appliances in the backyard, it pains me to say that the SmokeFire, at this stage, is a fail. The EX6 is my fourth pellet grill. Working in high tech, I can (begrudgingly) appreciate software issues that would invariably improve over time. Unfortunately, the SmokeFire seems to have some key design oversights. These primarily seem to be the ash and grease management system, the hopper, and the pit (right side much higher temperature than the left). I’m at a loss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SmokeFire EX6 I have been using the SmokeFire now for a couple of months. At first I thought the assembly directions left something to desire. But once I managed to finally assemble it I have found it to work flawlessly. The ability to maintain a constant temperature for cooking ribs is great. I have managed to cook some of the best tasting ribs ever with the various wood pellet flavors. Smoking meats with this pellet grill is a breeze and a joy to do. Cooked a prime rib and it turned out just like a 5 star restaurant. I love my grill. I have no regrets about the purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Do not buy....yet Not nearly what I expected. I've had issues. Online customer service was good. Not Great. Phone customer service was an embarrassment. Tried to blame the grills shortcomings on the user. I've been sent extra parts and pieces that I have to install myself. Don't buy this grill. Waaaaay too many wrinkles need to be ironed out. I'd prefer to return and buy a gas grill.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre at best Grill has been mediocre at best. Issues with firmware updates, very outdated app. Promised supersmoke or smoke boost and has yet to come out. Can't monitor probe temps on time. No alert for getting out of temp range during a cook. Issues with auger not getting pellets into the grill or grill not starting on the first try. Was a lot of promise but was not delivered.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expected More from a Leading Grill manufacturer Bought EX6 directly from Weber. Shipping was fine. Putting together the grill was straight forward. (I recommend using the BILT app, which has SmokeFire instructions.) The good: solid build and beautiful design. Large grill surface. Truly heatd to 600! The bad: the app and controller were not ready for prime time. App is buggy, supports a non-intuitive method for connecting to WiFi, app randomly fails to display probe temp, app needs to be restarted more often than it should, app lacks ability to start grill or change temperature remotely, app lacks ability to graph temperatures. The hopper has such a gradual incline that the pellets often get "stuck", a phenomenon called "bridging". The grease flows are routed to the center of the pit toward the firebox. You should use a grease pan to avoid collection of grease near Firebox.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Grill was awesome for the first week. Cooked Pizza, chicken, hotdogs, Boston butt, and lasagna. Then it started have issues staring and giving an E6 error. Followed the instructions to clear the issue on four different occasions. Was able to get it going again but stared experiencing very slow recovery of heat after opening to turn food. Contacted customer service and waited a week for parts for the solution. Installed the part but not before calling and questioning the fix and was assured it would correct the issue. Replaced the part and tried to cook dinner, the grill still would not recover heat to warm the food. Cooked the food on the stove in the house. Contacted customer service again and told I was sent the wrong part. Still waiting for a solution for a $1300 grill that the CEO of Weber states on the website that only a small percentage have had issues and that’s not good enough for us... I own several Weber products and own two of the same products for two different homes. I am disappointed in this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful Grill - poor APP I just did a real quick cook last night to test out the SmokeFire EX6. So far for a chicken I just put together real quick to test grill out - this was amazing. Gave me a taste very comparable to a stick burner. I will say the app is not ready yet - I think they just kicked the app out just to say they have a app. - Very disappointing, but Weber if you are listening - I would love to be a tester for any up coming updates on App and I will make sure I give you true feed back for the app . Other then the app, I would have gave this grill 5 stars - but again the grill is amazing

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returning I have been watching all the videos and reviews - hoping that user error or some other work arounds would surface and sadly none have. No doubt pellet grills are a different animal but it appears this is a lemon. So sadly I called today and started the return process with Weber. I found myself looking at Rec Tec, Camp Chef and Traeger, but won't but any of those. I wanted to believe so badly, but alas, it appears that the finance guys won and the engineers lost.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing but issues, uneven heat Bought the week it came out against my better judgment. Right side is much hotter than left at all temps, randomly shuts off, takes forever to heat up... Can forgive early iteration app being bad but the grill itself just doesn't work well. Did email weber but not heard back yet. I gave my propane grill to a neigbour to make room for the EX6 and it's barely usable so far, very disappointing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed!! A few to many flaws in the design. I cooked steaks, burgers, ribs, tri tips, chicken and A Turkey. Each time the 36 inch smoker was at least half full if not full of meat and There is literally 1/2 cup of grease in the grease pan. I cleaned the channels out 3 separate times. The ash is clogging the grease channel. Both on the tri tips and the chicken I had small grease fires start towards the end of my cooking. Also the pellets don’t feed in the hopper as it starts to get low. The app is very disappointing. You are supposed to be able to control the grill from the app and you can’t. Overall a fan of Weber but his one needs to have the kinks worked out. Not getting stuck with a $1200 lemon so mine is going back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great initial build quality but a boat anchor Bought this and waited with much anticipation as we pre-ordered. Watched all the YouTube videos of the issues and thought being forewarned would be enough. The system won’t update and the app won’t pair with the grill. The app keeps indicating that the Bluetooth isn’t on so Weber needs to fix the app before I can’t ever hope to pair to grill and that’s if it ever updates. It is sitting next to my main router so that should be an issue. Have high speed internet as well. The suggestion on Weber site is after reboot if still unsuccessful navigate menu to factory reset. Not available in the menus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product with some minor issues! I’ve had the grill for a couple of months so I feel like I can give it an honest review. The flavor this thing puts into the meat is amazing. I have not smoked anything on it yet (not a big smoker guy) but everything I have cooked (steak filet and ribeye, salmon, bone-in chicken, whole chickens, pork chops, vegetables) has turned out with a great smokey flavor. This thing keeps the temp spot on during the entire cook time. Clean up is fairly easy. A lot of reviews mention a grease fire. I have not experienced this yet but I empty the grease and ash tray prior to every use as the manufacturer recommends. Maybe on a long 12 hour smoke it might happen but never happened to me on a 2+ hour whole chicken cook. Definitely need to clean the bottom of the grill out once a month (depending on usage) to scrape the gunk (lots of ash around the heat box and grease) out that doesn’t make it to the drain pan. The app works well with the exception of WiFi. I have never been able to get it to connect to my WiFi. I have an access point inside my house maybe 20 feet away and still no luck. My biggest complaint is there is literally ZERO storage on this thing. Plus only two grillIng tool hangars. With such a small shelf (fits one regular size plate and not much else) you’d think they could throw some storage under the shelf. Maybe hang a couple more grilling tool hooks on the side. Lastly there is a lot of ash outside of the ash/grease trap area after a cook. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worth the minimal problems Pre-ordered this from a big box store. Setup was easy. Packages nicely where everything was secure. Made some of the juiciest smoked meats that I've ever had. This is not my first time smoking since I used to use a electric box smoker. Made enough for for 25 people with extra going home for leftovers. That being said...I have the"bridging" of the pellets every smoke which makes me get up thought the night when doing low and slow. The panel has also frozen twice where it needs a complete shutdown and 15 minute wait time to restart. It is by far, though, one of the easiest to use and best in the market in my opinion.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So far so good, but scared to test on longer cooks Cooked ribs (4.5 hours) and reverse seared NY strips - which both came out fantastic. However, after seeing all the comments here and youtube reviews, I am also seeing the possibility of a grease fire with all of the ash and the lack of having a drip pan - so I'm holding off on any overnight cooks. Awaiting further updates on the app, does not control temperature or even fire up the grill. A bit disappointed but I'm sure Weber will address. The hopper does need some human intervention in pushing the pellets down from time to time, no idea how this will be fixed since it's an engineering issue. I'm eagerly waiting for Weber to address a few these issues, if it isn't addressed within the month I will be initiating a return - $1200 is quite the investment and for that much money the product should work as advertised. Please Weber, don't let us down! If possible please send out an e-mail at least addressing the issues and assurance that we'll be taken care of. Thanks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems from the start I received it on Tuesday and have had nothing but issues. Wont hold temp, wont even light without resetting multiple times. Weber told me they have to work out the glitches 2 days ago while I have a $1200.00 Smokefire that is unusable. Weber, PLEASE HELP ME.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really feel like I wasted a lot of money Followed all instrutions in setup and seasoning. Cooked some steaks the 1st night and did very well. Today I did our 1st big smoke session with two 8lb Boston Butts. Put them on at 4am and set the target temp on the Weber Connect to 205 with a grill temp of 240F. At 5:30pm I went to check on the interal temp, since the stall ended about 3:30pm,on the Connect app and I see the grill temp is down to 115F and from there it keeps dropping. Plenty of pellets in the hopper and it sounds like they are dropping. I open the lid and there is no flame and nothing is firing. So I have to fire up my oven and get the butts in to at least be able to eat at a decent hour. Also...why do I have to keep pushing the pellets down the hopper...wasn't this a selling point that you don't have to do this? I spent a lot of money here and this is what happens on the second use....so disappointed. Also, I called your 800 number and it seems like you are busy...awaiting your call back so you can process my return

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Cooks with SmokeFire EX6, arrived as scheduled in perfect condition. I would recommend assembling in the area where the grill is going to be kept. Burn in went smoothly. Grill came up to 600 in about 12 minutes. First cook was a whole chicken— using a drip pan to catch the greece. Cooked at 375. Since then I’ve smoked venision Meatloaf, babyback ribs, lamb chops, burghers and some beef sticks. All went good, I would say that I would use a drip pan on all greasy cooks. Found that most of the recipies I used on my old smoker are recommended 25-50 degrees hotter on the SmokeFire which did not seem to dimish the smoke absorbed by the food.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Waited to stay with Weber As I have owned many Webers, to my current line of kettles, WSM, and Genesis, I had no reason or desire to own a pellet grill/smoker...Until of coarse Weber announced one. Unfortunately between the wait times to get on the phone, numerous restart cycles and wasted pellets, I’m hoping I don’t have to return it. There’s always growing pains but it outweighs the desired convenience at the moment because I do enjoy traditional smoking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from High Quality Design, Poor Performance I bought this grill approximately 4 days ago. The pro's are - Great sturdy/robust design - Relatively easy assembly - A lot of surface area for grilling - Onboard panel is easy to learn how to use - The overall cook on the grill is very even and uniform. - When operation is stable, it is very low maintenance. There are unfortunately several cons which are very difficult to overlook. I'm really trying to make this grill work for me, but keep hitting some road blocks. I'm not sure if these issues are unique to my grill or if it's inherent to the design. - The ash/drip drawer doesn't seem to align or close fully - almost like the drawer is undersized. During operation ash comes out from the drawer and blows around on the ground and on the grill. This misalignment also lets leakage air enter the grill which I think negatively affects temperature and fuel efficiency. - The bottom of the grill seems to be a build up point for ash and drippings - almost like none of the ash enters the ash drawer (maybe due to ingress air?). You will likely have to clean the bottom out for each use. - Flame loss or instability seems to be a frequent event during start-up, which results in approximately 15 minutes for the grill to shut down before refiring. When you do get everything up and running the grill is stable; however, this doesn't offset the amount of time to get the grill up and going. - Either the knob on the panel of the grill is poor design or mine arrived broken. The dial has to be turned very slow and gingerly in order for it to register. If you turn it too fast it will either go the opposite (temperature) direction or it will simply not register at all. - Flavor wise the food did not seem to pick up as much of the smoke/grill taste as I hoped. I've had success with the pellets that I'm using in other appliances, so not sure what the culprit may be (perhaps the lekage). - The app has limited functionality and connecting and updating can be a struggle. Also note that if the app updates when you are heating the grill it will trigger the shutdown on the grill. The one feature that I want in an app is chamber temperature control/setpoints, but I couldn't seem to readily locate that. - The pellet hopper isn't a mass flow design - the wall angle seems too shallow to promote pellet movement without giving it a helping hand. The pellets that I use will funnel flow around the auger and will result in low level notifications. You have to manually push the pellets from the back of the hopper towards the auger opening.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Smokefire didn’t live up to the hype! So many issues with this grill. Had issues with the Hopper not moving the pellets down to feed the auger. Would give me an alarm saying low pellets when it was full. Constantly had to move them down. Ash would go everywhere and I mean everywhere. Front, back, inside and out. So imagine that's all over your food. Ash collected at the bottom and grease would mix with the ash creating a dam not allowing the grease to go into the drip pan. This is how a grease fire would happen. I cleaned mine a lot preventing this from happening. Door would leak smoke, it wouldn't seal all the way. Not blaming Weber for this could have happened in shipping. I could never trust this grill to do a overnight cook, so ultimately I returned it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So many different problems...very disappointed I was so excited to buy this grill, though it was a stretch at the price. Don't get me wrong, if it worked as you would expect it to, it would be worth it. It doesn't. Not even close. Here are the problems I have had. Small, problems...some solvable... 1. The initial start up it didn't get past 515 degrees. I was okay with that, it was quite cold out. But still, disappointing. 2. The dial doesn't function well in cold weather. If you turn it too fast, it actually goes backwards. 3. The app doesn't read the temperature clearly (it cuts off the bottom part of the numbers). I'm using an android device, Note 10. 4. The right side is hotter than the left side. Big problems: 1. The grill flamed out on start up several times. Bad enough that this ever happens...what makes it work is that when this happens, you have to wait 15 minutes for the grill to power down before you can restart it to try again. Totally non-functional for someone who would use this regularly. 2. The hopper holds 20+ pounds, but the hopper angle is not enough to drain the pellets into the auger chamber without a human intervening. You can get maybe 5-6 hours (I'm being generous) of cooking without having to push more pellets in, but this is not acceptable. I put a pork shoulder on overnight only to wake up to a cold grill because the 20 lbs of pellets I put in the hopper we sitting at the top of the 'slide" down to the auger. I can't believe Weber let this happen. 3. Grease fire. I followed the instructions to a "T". Emptied the foil grease trap (even though it wasn't full) and removed the ashes. But after only 2 cooks (1 salmon, 1 pork shoulder), I got a grease fire on the third cook of hamburgers. Worse yet, when the grease fire occured, it took the temp way up above the target...the fire burned out, and then I got a flame out. The burgers were not done (I took them off at the height of the grease fire), and I couldn't get the grill to start back without powering down due to another flame out. I can say one positive thing. I was ultimately able to finish the pork shoulder smoke despite the middle of the night flame out, and I will say it was the best pork shoulder I have ever had. This being said, there is no way I cannot recommend this grill to anyone. It is an enormously frustrating expensive disappointment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SmokeFire EX6 I returned the grill due to several major issues. The pellet hopper design results in pellets bridging or not sliding to the in-feed of the auger. Most importantly the temperature control does not work, the display indicates the grill is at set temp but swings approximately 100 degrees. I am very disappointed with Weber’s response, they should have recalled all these grills when they realized the issues where widespread. Instead they offered me a free bag of pellets and lost a Weber customer for life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I got a dud I purchased my EX-6 as a pre-order from Lowes. Mine was delivered on 13 FEB 20 as expected. As I was unpacking the grill parts and pieces from the box, I noticed that somehow, somewhere, mine had damage to the side table and then later noticed some minor damage on the hopper to the right of the controller. So, I thought about returning it then but I am not able to load this grill into my truck myself and I am sure Lowes didn't want it back in unassembled. So I assemble it, which that part went pretty easily… with the aid of an app called "Weber BILT"... highly recommend that. The app however on mine seemed to connect to the controller on the grill right away. But after reading online and seeing others having success and failure like me, I learned that I should have gotten a "ding" and a prompt on the controller to confirm pairing. I didn't get anything, not a ding now any prompt. So I tried many times to delete the app, reinstall the app, turn the app on first then the controller and vice versa... nothing works. Only after 2-3 days of more frustration did I learn that I have received one of a batch of defective controllers. Yay. The grill itself would work, but I didn't buy it just for the grilling... I want the ability to see the temp and to change the temp on the grill from the comfort of my living room. So, after many more calls, I finally get a supervisor at Weber to send a hopper, a side shelf and a new controller to me. They sent the hopper to me and the controller and side shelf to a service agent who I can not yet get ahold of the give me a time and date to come install this stuff. I also have the option to return this one to Lowes... which I may yet do if Weber's service agent cannot come through in a reasonable amount of time, and by reasonable I mean this week. If I were in the market for a new grill, I would get one with a more established track record if I could do it again. Many people are having problems with their as well as many who are happy with theirs too. I am definitely not happy. Work to the wise... buy yours from Lowes as they have a good return policy... not sure about Weber's. Oh on another note... I was so happy to be getting this from Weber and just knew they had this thing fully tested and vetted for issues, that I went and bought ribs, steaks, a pork shoulder, and a prime brisket... plus a cover, trays and other grill accessories. Learn from me and never pre-order any untested product, even from a company like Weber. P.S. A friend from work got one too and he loves his... he got his from Weber and it's not damaged nor a dud.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hoped for the best, did not get it… I purchased this pellet grill hoping for an upgrade from my Z-Grills pellet smoker that has been a great starter in the pellet grill space, but so far it does not seem like an upgrade. There is quite a bit to love about this unit, but there’s a lot left to be desired. Full Disclosure, I've done the initial burn and two short cooks including a reverse seared steak, which turned out great, and some chicken breasts, which were unevenly cooked. I plan to do some ribs this weekend to test longer cook times. Things I love: - Great Look- This grill is pretty. The size and shape are appealing. This is a sexy looking grill, but I must stress the word ‘looking’. - Open Flame- This will be in the ‘left to be desired’ section to, but the ability to sear steaks without having to take it off of a pellet smoker and put it on a grill is a nice feature and one of the main reasons I sold my grill, pellet smoker, and flattop griddle to buy this one… a decision I am currently regretting. :/ - Cooking space- This unit has a TON of space to cook on, though this causes another issue that will end up below. - Heat!- This grill gets hot and gets hot quick! I haven’t tested the true temp with an external thermostat yet, but according to the control board, this raises 5 degrees every 3 seconds when getting up to temp. It is impressive. - App Probe Alerts- This is nice that you get alerts for the probe on when to flip and when it’s done. Left to Be Desired: - Hopper does not hop well- The pellets do not slide down the hopper well at all. During my initial burn I got a low fuel warning on the app. This is a poor design that should have been found during testing, and I’m not sure how this could be fixed especially since the friction will just increase the more pellet dust builds up. - App- The manual says you can adjust the heat from the app, but you cannot. I hope this is an update soon! - Shutdown- When you turn on the grill, be ready to turn on the grill and don’t change your mind or dinner will be 30 minutes late. I started it up and before the first pellet dropped, I started the shutdown process because I realized I forgot to prep something, and the shutdown process took 25 minutes. - Ash/Grease system- this is a big safety concern due to the open flame concept. There is a significant amount of ash that does not go into the ash collection tray, and when mixed with grease at the bottom of the drum, looks like a recipe for disaster… or napalm. I have not done a long cook yet, so I haven’t had a grease issue, but the amount of ash that was blown around the unit, contrary to what the advertisement indicated would happen, it could be a big issue for the flow of grease to get around the ash dam to the drip pan. - Heat distribution- One thing that Weber touted was even heat distribution, and even the videos showed some impressive grill marks on steaks… this is not the reality of what occurs. The right side of the grill seems to be significantly hotter than the left. I used all 4 probes and the food on the right was charred and up to temp at least 10 minutes before the left, which barely had grill marks. When you look down in the drum, the flame is blasting out the right side of the fire box but you can only see a glow on the left side. I hope that Weber releases a statement to address these concerns before my return window closes, because I want to love this grill and the way it cooks without having to have safety concerns or the headache of returning this monster of a unit. It’d be a shame if such a great company’s entry into the market ends up being a serious flop.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Smokefire EX6 review - unsure A big disappointment! Smoker is not as advertised. During 1st cook it quit and just would not auger more pellets to keep up temp. Ash is supposed to end up in the bottom tray, it ends up all over the outside of grill and my deck. Weber must have rushed this product, not sure if I'm keeping it...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice!! Cooker does great from 300° and above. Wont hold temp steady below 300° but i have been told next update should fix that. Will update when i find out if it works. Great tasting food other than that.
