5 Must-Know Things About Your Weber Gas Grill - Part III

Grilling can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be, but there are some things Weber gas grill owners should know. Here’s part three in our on-going series of “Must Know Things about Weber Gas Grills”! Check out part 1 and part 2 of this series. 

#1) A PROPANE GRILL HAS TO RUN ON PROPANE AND A NATURAL GAS GRILL HAS TO RUN ON NATURAL GAS – Each Weber gas grill has been designed to use either propane or natural gas. It’s not possible to use a propane model with natural gas or vice versa. Also, due to safety reasons, we don’t suggest converting a grill from one fuel type to another. Doing so actually voids the warranty on the grill. For more information about converting your grill, click here

#2) GAS GRILLS CAN BE MANUALLY LIT – Did your igniter system stop working? While it’s definitely not convenient for an igniter system to stop working, all Weber gas grills can be manually lit. #3) LOOKIN’ AIN’T COOKIN’ – Back in 1952, George Stephen designed the very first Weber grill specifically to address problems like the wind and rain, and also to trap heat in the grill to create a better grilling experience.  Nothing has changed in all the years since then, and every Weber grill is meant to be used with the lid closed. If you try grilling with the lid open it’s going to take a longer time to finish your food, and you miss out on that great smoky, grilled flavor. Always grill with your lid closed. Learn more here.

#4) ALWAYS PREHEAT YOUR GRILL – Before you cook on your grill, it’s always important to let it preheat. After lighting your grill, turn all the main burners to high, close the lid and let it heat up for about 10 to 15 minutes. After preheating the grill, now is the best time to brush off your cooking grates, as the food debris will have been turned to ash and should come off the grates easily.

#5) CLEAN THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR GRILL – While cleaning the inside of your grill is important to keep it running well and safe to use, cleaning the outside of the grill is just as important to keep it in good shape.
