Rotisserie Grilling Gas and Charcoal

Does rotisserie cooking look intimidating? We’ve taken the mystique out of rotisserie grilling for charcoal and gas enthusiasts alike.

When using a rotisserie always remember these guidelines below:

  1. First and foremost, all Weber rotisseries (gas or charcoal) have a 20 lb. maximum weight limit
  2. Almost any recipe that calls for indirect heat for a large piece of protein works well on the rotisserie
  3. When doing rotisserie cooking, using a drip pan filled with veggies and broth or water can help to impart a great flavor to your food, while also catching the dripping to be used later as gravy. 
  4. Always refer to your instruction sheet or manual for proper safety and lighting instructions before turning on the rotisserie
  5. The cooking time and temperature will be the same as with other methods
  6. Be sure to always use two grill mitts for safety
  7. When using the Infrared burner in the back of the Summit® S-670™ gas grill, turn it off after 20 minutes of grilling, and finish the food over indirect heat.

How about some pork roast, prime rib roast, or a beef round roast? Any recipe that calls for a pork or a beef roast can be done on your rotisserie. There is nothing different, from a recipe standpoint, between using a rotisserie or other method. Cooking times are the same, but keep in mind the heat should always be indirect. Make sure you take the grates out and place a drip pan under the food to help collect the juices and also keep your grill clean. If you need anything else let me know. I just got a rotisserie for my Spirit and really haven't found a lot of recipes for anything other than chicken. I want to do beef and pork. HELP!

What a great tip you bring up. Filling the pan will do some great things when we grill, especially adding flavor to the foods we are grilling. I always recommend when grilling indirectly using a drip pan full of wine, beer, juices and an assortment of veggies. Continue the great grilling and feedback. Maybe the rotisserie should be considered. I have 3 rotisserie rings that I have used on my classic Weber and now on my Performer... Just this past weekend I rotisseried a pineapple on ring while I baked potatoes on the normal height rack and way up on top I was smoking racks of ribs
Also, when using the drip pan; I highly recommend keeping water in it at all times. If it runs dry, any drippings and such will burn and leave an acrid smoke flavoring on the food
