Summit could be better

Summit 420
Good quality
I wish you had the option to get a lid in one piece hinged in the back. I don't like the split top, lets to much heat out.
The grill top I don't like. The spacing of the bars are to far apart. Weber increased the gauge of the bars then spaced them further apart. My wife brings those pre formed hamburgers home. The gaps between grill bars is so great that the burgers can slip down between the bars and are lost to the grease tray. Also loose a lot of those little pieces of food that break off while cooking between the bars. I would choose to change out my lid to the old style I had, like a clam shell hinged at the back if that was an option when buying. I would also choose a different grill top if I had that option when buying. The new Webers look good online but I prefed my old Weber from fifteen years ago. I will keep my eyes open for Weber options.

Summit? Not at the top

this review is for my five month old "Summit 420". I live in South Florida which allows year round grilling. I grill most of my dinners outside on the grill, five nights a week. I went with the Weber because I loved my old Weber from fifteen years ago.
Pros:
Good quality, even the small pieces, all built to last.
Easy to assemble: watched the video two weeks before I ordered and assembled out of the box in just minutes.
Good heat distribution across the grill.
Heats quickly: I cook for two most of the time, couple chops, burgers or steaks, like that I can get the protein on and off the grill quick.
Cons:
I hate the lid: The lid is split into two pieces, front half and a back half. The back half of the lid is fixed. The lids front half opens and closes, hinged at the sides. This design leaves a long gap between front and back lid pieces that let heat flow out of the grill like a chimney. It's like having a six inch square hole in the top of your grill lid. This design lets you have a rear infrared heater for rotisserie foods. I don't use this grill for slow cooking, have a different style gr

great grill

This grill is exceptionally made with the exceptions of a few minor cosmetic parts. This grill cooks very good with the best part being the ability to really can up after. The grill comes apart easily and with the weber grill cleaner wipes down clean. Highly recommend for the weekend griller!
