Poor redesign

I have owned the previous version of this gas grill for many years and loved it. It started looking tired and rusty, so I decided to buy a new one. I found that Weber had redesigned the grate system, but wasn't concerned. (We have other Weber full size grills and have confidence in the product)
My old Go Anywhere grill had a stainless steel cooking grate with a flavor bar beneath it. After using the new grill with the porcelain grill plate I thought I must be doing something wrong. The grease drips through the holes but has no where to burn off because it drips below the flame. Grease just pools in the bottom. What doesn't drip down just burns onto the porcelain plate. What a mess!
I used this new grill about 5 times before I decided it just wasn't worth the trouble. I did call Weber to voice my concerns and was told I could return it to my retailer. Disappointed to say the least. I only had 30 days. So, on the shelf it went.
I later found replacement parts for my old grill on the Internet and they fit this one too. You can buy the old stainless grate and flavor bar and just toss the porcelain grill plate. Yes, my portable Go Anywhere now costs almost twice what it should, but I'm happy with the function and usability of the old design.
If it ain't broke, don't redesign it!

New grill not as good as the old one

Putting this new one on a shelf in the garage and buying one like the old one with the "flavorizer" baffle. Like many others who bought this product I am disappointed.

Disappointed with new version

The flavorizer pan is gone so when we got done cooking are hamburgers the bottom was full of grease. Not happy about cleaning up the mess. The newer grill doesn't cook as hot as the old design. We were very happy with our old weber so please bring back the old design.

If it ain't broke don't fix it !!

I just bought a new one after my old one just would not go anymore. VERY DISAPPOINTED WEBER!! Like the old adage goes "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
The old Go Anywhere grill design was perfect ! Weber you should have left it alone. This new design is a griddle, not a grill. ( one of the reasons I will not by a Q series grill} I own many Weber grills and love them but this one went back to the store.

Why are people giving this a 5 when

They are all complaining that it's missing the flavouriser and leaves a horrible mess to clean up. Change it back weber then I might consider buying one of these as well as my charcoal smokey joe

Not the same grill it used to be.

I have owned several of these go anywhere grills over a span of 14 years. They just wear out with use. I live in Alaska.

I would go through several Flavored bars with each grill, they would break down with use. To me that wasn't a problem. I would just order another one from Weber with there great support service .

Just received my newest grill in the mail, was surprised to see the new grate.

Now after using the grill several times, I've come to the conclusion it's a horrible idea. Who ever redesigned this grill is wrong in so many ways.

As was pointed out in previous post you are on longer grilling but cooking. The grate is almost impossible to clean after using barbecue sauce. The grease no longer falls down on the flavor bar to add flavor, but goes to the bottom of the grill for an ugly clean up.

My guess is Weber will change the grill back .

This is a griddle, NOT a grill.

This is the new Weber Go Anywhere deal-breaker. This is sold as a grill but is in reality a GRIDDLE. The grate and flavorizer bar are now gone. Foods burn to the new replacement 'grill' like nothing I've ever used before, and I've used Weber gas and charcoal grills for many years. The metal 'grill' is heated from below directly over the flame. Meats fry and burn in their own fats and juices. Drainage is poor. Forget using any BBQ sauces, marinades, rubs or products that contain sugar or minced, chopped spices. Sauces and the meats themselves almost instantly become burnt to the surface of your 'grill', imparting a burned flavor to your meat and are all but impossible to clean. I just replaced my old worn out Go Anywhere that had the flavorizer bar and true grate with this new 'grill' that cost me $59.99, and will not use it again. Ribs, chicken, and roasts were possible using the original configuration, but not with this one. Look online for the old-style flavorizer bars and grates. If Weber Co. would buy it back from me I'd be happy. Poorly engineered. FAIL, Weber.

Best Portable Grill Around!!

I was amazed at how easy assembly was on this grill. I had it assembled in less than 8 minutes!

Not like those foreign makes with instructions that are barely legible and a million junky parts!!

Grills like a full size BBQ and cooks fairly even with good heat distribution!

Grease catcher would have been a good idea, but everything else is fine.

Excellent customer service and warranty!!

What Happened?

I recently bought a Go-Anywhere Gas grill to replace the one I had owned for about 10 years. What a big dissapointment to find the Flavorizer bar is gone in the new design and the grill grate has been replaced with a porcelain-enameled grill grate. Without the Flavorizer bar, the fat drippings now fall through to the bottom of the grill without smoking. The grease now drops to the bottom of the grill making a big mess. If I knew of this new design I would have just taken out my portable stove and used a frying pan. It would have tasted better because the burner doesn't get hot enough to sear anything. This grill is garbage.

go anywhere gas

I was very pleased until I found the 'cleaning instructions'...Not only do you have to wipe the grill but you have to wash it in soap and water after every use including the bottom grilling section. This is impossible on a camping trip or even home use......why can't we put aluminum foil on the underpart instead of washing it EVERY TIME.......Your older model had a "tent" to catch the grease. and the grilling did not require washing after EVERY use
